GDT: BRAVES @ CUBS MAKE UP

Gotta say, Harrell looks pretty solid out there. He's 31, but oddly enough only has a little over 2 years of service time. In the admittedly unlikely event that he proves to be decent SP, the Braves control his services at the MLB minimum next year.

I'm sure he'll come back down to earth but I'm liking Harrell. He seems like a gamer. He has pretty good stuff and seems like he could be a solid 4/5 option for next year if he keeps this up.

His command has deserted him a bit the past two innings, but Harrell seems to know what he's doing out there.

I said when we signed him to a minor league deal that I liked the signing and that I hoped to see him back in the Majors. I liked him with Houston years back (season he went 11-11 I saw him a lot). He was better than his record that year, had a solid season. But he wasn't the same pitcher the next season and seemed to lose confidence he had previously too. Now he looks like he's just happy to be back in MLB so maybe he's not done. Maybe he can be the good starter he was with Houston here and give us a cheap back of the rotation option next year. Time will tell.

Man, Rangers are getting embarrassed by the Twins again. Thanks in part to the injuries in their rotation and bad bullpen (Texas has worst bullpen in AL numbers wise despite strong starting pitching when healthy). Texas has Jared Hoying a position player pitching the 9th and less than a week ago they had their catcher throw an inning in another blowout loss to the Twins. That's embarrassing but thanks to it Braves have a better position draft pick wise.
