It's OVER 5,000!
And Newcomb was a cold weather pitcher from a small college that was considered to be rawer than most pitchers his age.
true. i'm not arguing against Newcomb at all, as I like him a lot.

Can anyone explain to me why MLB Pipeline dropped our farm ranking from #2 preseason to #9 Midseason?!?! I realize other teams improved, but we had a great draft and International signings. What am I missing??

I understand that, but I don't remember a team that really didn't graduate anyone drop that many spots that quick. I think we might have had less in the top 100 in the preseason than now ??

Blair graduated. They had 5 with Anderson replacing Blair for this one. LA was at #1, also with 5, but they had much better star quality.
The Brewers and Yanks added a ton of talent at the deadline.
And I think folks are underestimating just how poorly the Braves pitching prospects have been this season. Newcomb went from 21 to 58, Blair fell completely off the list (or does 50 IP make him lose rookie status?), and guys like Jenkins, Touki and Sims went from being borderline top 100 guys to not even in consideration.

Because they're stupid.
Good question. Not too many prospects have slipped, some have improved. No one really promoted from the prospect list that I remember. Of course, it could be that they were one of the ones that had Olivera as our top prospect. I guess that could explain some of it.
Banuelos and Sims regressed. Blair didn't do well in his first turn.
Folty, Jenkins have graduated.
I never really thought the top of the organization pitching guys were really all that high ceiling, so I'm not sure why it has impacted the rating.
I also think Callis made an early conclusion based on some slow starts of some guys (he tweeted about it a while back) and perhaps hasn't fully revisited the way Allard, Fried, Tooki have fared since.
I think their reaction is a little knee-jerk after the trade deadline -- no way do you have Atlanta as the #2 system, and then AFTER the international signing period and the draft drop them to #9.
Keep in mind, even though I tend to like Callis -- in his UPDATED Braves top-30 he has ManBan at #23 and Bird at #24 - Cruz/Pache/Minter are all unranked.
