Braves Top Final AFL Hot Sheet

Honestly, I imagine we are pursuing this kind of deal because Demeritte makes Albies more expendable in our minds.

I keep going back and forth on this. I'm a big Albies fan and have had him written in pen as our second baseman for a while now.

It's really fun to dream on Demeritte, but I just can't get past the fact that he struck out over 30% of the time last year and all of that came below Double A. That percentage did go down in a small sample in the AFL (25 Ks in 107 ABs). I'm just not sure I would be alright giving up a player like Albies and putting so much on Demeritte with that kind of strikeout rate in the lower levels of the minor leagues. I wish Demeritte's perceived value was as high as Ozzie's and we could just trade him instead, but I doubt teams view Demeritte as close to Albies.

The thing that has increased TD's value is his defense. You can deal with other shortcomings if you're getting plus defense. The fact that he has plus power and speed and he is going to have value even if the K's remain an issue. Most power guys who K a lot are below average defenders which magnifies their shortcomings.

I like Albies too, if not for Swanson there is no way I would trade Albies. I think his upside is limited. I can understand that they don't want a power drain at multiple positions.

I'm with you, personally. I love Albies and do NOT want to give him up. Not even for Sale at this point.

I think there's a very good chance we trade Albies in whatever deal for whatever player we acquire goes down.

I don't think TD makes Albies more expendable, but he's sure nice to have in the event we have to trade Albies in a deal for an established player. Albies is one of our best trade chips because he's a premium asset that could have even more value to another team with an opening at SS.

Acuna with 2 hits (including his third 3B), 2 runs, and his 5th SB - average up to .368 in the ABL.

Matt Kennelly with a 3B and 2 BBs - average up to .313 in the ABL.

Camargo with a solo shot in the DWL.

Meneses with a BB (his 10th) and a run - average up to .325 in the MPL.

Mustelier with his 20TH double and a run - average up to .316 in the MPL.

Acuna looks like he has a chance to be something really special. Outside of obviously Maitan he is probably the most important prospect in the system this year.

I believe in albies. I'd trade him for a stud but I'm not giving him away. He's still 19-20. Zero reason to rush him.

I do not believe in demerite. I'm not giving him away either but I'd think about selling high on him. People want to gloss over the fact that he's still in the low minors, not that young, and ks25 percent of the time. Maybe he's Marlins ugly with good defense...maybe.

I think it's possible Peterson could be our ref or lf of the future. I don't see a 3b option in the next 3 years. I don't see a catcher option. I don't believe in kemp.

So I'm keeping both. But if I can get a long term option at tor stRter, 3b, catcher, or corner bat then I'm looking to move demerite first

Meneses always seems to hit fairly well in the Liga Mexicano del Pacifico. Curious where he starts in 2017. Seems to be a slow climber but hits well after adjusting to tougher competition. He'll be 25 shortly into the 2017 season, so he's going to have to ramp it up a bit. Could develop into a back-up.
