College Football Thread

After the Longhorn's embarrassing loss to Kansas you have to think Strong will be gone. I hope we go get Tom Herman.

Have a feeling Texas will throw EVERYTHING at Nick Saban this offseason.

Saban has won so many titles with Bama regardless of what they do this season that there's no way Bama fans would be mad he left.

I never imagined a season this bad for Georgia Southern. The term "coaching malpractice" has been thrown around a lot, and it seems to fit to T. One and done I think for our coach.

And in all likelihood, he'll turn them down again. Texas has a couple things that Coach Saban would not like being around. For one, the Longhorn Nework (which is pretty much a failure anyway). They would demand all access to practices and want him to do this and that and everything else. Coach doesn't work like that. You also have a lot of big money boosters who want to meddle in everything in regards to the football program. Coach Saban is in control of the football program at Alabama and everyone here knows and accepts that.

I think if the money was right, and they met all his demands Texas wouldn't hesitate.

Anything is possible, but I don't think so in this case. I just think so many individuals who want to be involved in the Texas program (boosters, donors, ect) won't be able to help themselves. That many rich people in Texas will think they can get involved and it doesn't matter who the coach is.

Also, two years ago, rumors of Texas' interest were all over the place for Nick Saban. I'm not hearing near the chatter this time around. I'm hearing Tom Hermann a lot.

Saban has reached the summit of college. Nothing else to prove. No incentive to start over elsewhere at this level. If he does anything, he will go back to the NFL to try to prove he can succeed there.

Was there ever any confirmation that his wife scuttled him taking the Giants job last year? I heard that rumor but never heard if it was confirmed or debunked. I have doubts considering the original source.

I do agree that the NFL is the next logical step. Guys like Saban don't like to have something that they failed at. I'm sure the Dolphins disaster still eats at him.

He can't succeed in the NFL because the players get paid.

I don't think he'll succeed because the big leagues are a whole different story than College.

Since Texas owns thier own tv network they can make Saban an offer in the tens of millions.

Orgeron to stay as LSU's head coach.
Herman to Texas.
Fleck to Purdue in light of his team's biggest game coming up in a week. What a dick move.
