Because the past is always an accurate indicator when clearly Schafer has matured and isn't nearly as awful as he was. No argument that BJ will be and should be starting longterm. But get over yourself thinking he's going to do anything of significance this year. Just gotta wait it out til hopefully Heyward is back and can play center.

The bullpen is gassed, Paul Maholm is Paul Maholm. We look like **** but somehow we're in a great spot to win against a good ballclub.

Schafer has matured? Based on his spot starts? Doubt it. Its funny to me that careers numbers indicate that Schafer is awful and BJ isnt yet Schafer has "turned the corner" yet BJ is doomed to be awful forever. Did I like the BJ siging , NO? Will he perform better and is he better than Schafer? Yes
 
Good hustle. Saved him from a terrible approach on 3-1. Three hits and a walk tonight, though. Exactly what we need from the leadoff spot.

Did I say BJ was doomed forever? No. Has he done anything to indicated he'll have any success this year? No. He's better than Schafer, and yet he's not outperforming him. Oh, Schafer just stole what should have been his second base.

We are trying to win in 2013 I could care less what BJ does in 2014 he isn't doing anything this year and getting him some more ABs in 2013 isn't going to matter come next year

BJ is a lost cause for this year I don't know why people can't see that.

not to mention Schafer plays a better CF then BJ
