I will say after observing this party in-fighting in the GOP over healthcare the last few weeks, it makes an observer objectively appreciate Nancy Pelosi's ability to keep her party in line and deliver for Obama.
She got everyone in line including the Progressives, Blue Dogs, etc. My only regret is the blue dogs didn't embrace Obama's popularity during the mid-terms and fought harder to improve on the bill and instead tried to distance themselves and that's why they lost. Whether or not you agree with the ACA or like/dislike Pelosi, her leadership to rally the troops and corral the party looks a lot better than what we're seeing. Ryan has no control over his party right now in the House. McConnell really isn't doing anything either other than deflecting shade to the House and trying to avoid Trump's line of fire.
It doesn't look like Trump's dealclinching skills along with Ryan and McConnell will be able to deliver anytime soon. The narrative that the GOP had 8 years to come up with a plan to repeal and replace is only growing by the day. If they fail to capitalize on this with two majorities (they can use reconciliation to pass with simple majorities) their obstructionism the last 8 years is only going to be amplified heading into 2018 mid-terms. Can't blame the Dems on this. The GOP ran on getting rid of ACA, then some of them are backtracking because now they admit there were elements that were actually good that they dont' want to remove.
I have a feeling if we don't get healthcare done by next year, "Who knew healthcare would be so complicated" is going to be the winning line for Dems.
