GDT 5/1/17: Braves vs. MUTTS

^ For example, just adding in tonight's game reduces our season average by 4%.

If we average tonight's attendance for the rest of this series, our average would fall to 20th in MLB

And then it'll jump right back up this weekend.

Well, he's already up so might as well ride it out. Funny thing (not so funny). As BAD as Aybar was, he had come around and was playing pretty decent when they called Swanson up. As well as he played, he easily won us a few games.

So...we should have the 2nd pick (at least), and Swanson should have been in AAA until probably the start of this season (or late this year and he and Ozzie play together and come up together).

Oh well....

Yeah... but we're not privy to the info the FO is so therefore they are right and we are wrong.

i thought all of those kids who live in all of those northern suburbs were going to fill up the stadium.

this stadium was nothing more than a cash grab and almost everybody else loses in the process.

More worried about Teheran's lack of fastball than anything. He has got to get that command of it figured out. His slider and change up are average at best

I mean it's evident why they did it...I understand. I just don't like it.

The amazing part is the thought of promoting him never crossed our GM's mind until Hart said to him what's there to lose. Amazing how these decisions get made. Gold standard franchise.

Well it probably didn't cost us the first pick (the Kemp trade did that). It's just a shame now that he is struggling and they have branded him (even has a bobble head day). He can't go down now and get the work he needs. I hate it for him.

I mean, that's practically every new stadium deal.

That's disturbing.

Link?

I'm not going to go looking for it, but that's what JC said in an interview last year. Of course at the time Swanson was doing well, so JC was saying this in praise of his boss. It turned out to be a rather revealing statement, though not quite as JC intended at the time.

Yeah it's hard to understand why a guy who averaged 5 WAR per season isn't liked around here

I don't dislike him, but I make that trade again no question. I loved jhey's glove, but he drove me crazy with his grounders to the right side. I'm not predicting this to continue, but...

BR...

16-'17 WAR: jhey 2.6, markakis 2.4

'17 WAR: jhey 0.8, markakis 0.7

FG...

'16-'17 WAR: jhey 2.0, markakis 1.8

'17 WAR: jhey 0.4, markakis 0.7

Then why bring it up? Everyone knows Heyward had a ****ty 2016. It happened. Nick is also having a great start to 2017 defensively. Hopefully it continues.

I really like Jhey. When you look at him making $180 mil...no. Especially when you compare that to what Freddie makes. If he would have signed to a tad more reasonable contract...I would have loved for him to stay. As is, we traded him and have Ender for ALOT less. He does many of the things Jhey does with less power but a higher average.

It was smart to trade him. That trade was the cornerstone to our rebuild (morphing into the Shelby trade). Upton was great, but the strike outs were horrible. I agree with that trade. Simmons trade I don't understand...cheap, young, signed long term and his glove made up for any offensive shortcomings). Gattis made very little sense either, but netted us Folty so I'm ok with it.

I think everyone loved Jhey and hated to see him go. When a guy wants $200 mil on a mid market team though, a contract like that (unless the guy is Harper or Trout)....will kill the team.

I love Jhey, but I also love the fact the Cubs are paying him $180 mil. and not us....

I mean, that's practically every new stadium deal.

i don't believe this to be true. many or most stadiums being built are being placed in locations that are very beneficial to the areas surrounding the stadium and have long reaching effects.

in this case the only people who benefit are the oil companies and the braves. instead of integrating with the community, they're just starting their own community and taking it all.

but it will fail in the end. getting to and from the stadium will be too difficult over time and there is no reason to go out there aside from the game. when you have stadiums downtown you have so many more reasons to bring people out. in atlanta's case the big draw aside from the stadium is a waffle house.
