REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I'm a bit worried about the Falcons. They didn't need any injuries along the defensive line when getting pressure on QBs has been a problem for a while. Offensive line still thin too and Jackson already having an injury problem.

Im worried, but the D has played pretty well so far imo. They haven't had injuries on the DL yet (Beirman has been playing some LB\OLB\DE) but we it will give Massoqoui a chance to play more. He has been getting some pressure.

I like the new blood on D. So far they have looked solid.

I consider DE to be part of the DL, at least defensive front four is how I should have worded it. I like how the secondary has played with Samuel being banged up. Biggest issue I've seen thus far is the O-line. They played well in the first half the other day, but basically took the third quarter off.

We have a lot of old guys. So not getting full games will happen.

The Lions are 0-21 in Washington........if the Skins can show up in the first quarter, they should win.

To be fair, the Lions in the last few years have been way better than they have at arguably any point in their history. But this is absolutely a must win for Washington. I could be wrong on the numbers, but for teams that started 0-2 since 1990, 22 have made the playoffs. But teams who've started 0-3 only 3 have made the playoffs, so while 0-2 is bad, 0-3 is basically the kiss of death. Skins, Giants, Vikings, Bucs, and Panthers are all teams with playoff aspirations who could be staring down the barrel of going 0-3 and having little playoff hopes. only solace for the Skins and Giants is they play in the NFC East which lacks top end talent. Tampa and Carolina can't fall too far behind Atlanta and New Orleans or they'll leave them in the dust. Vikings will have several teams putting them away.

No chance Vikings will make the playoffs...not with Ponder at QB.

TB simply isn't good enough.

Carolina could possible, but I don't see it. Certainly not when they choke every game down the stretch and Cam really isn't improving as a passer.

I think i predicted 7-9 wins for Skins this year. Thats probably not playoff worthy. They get cap space back next year so that will help.

They need more than cap space. Skins are one of those teams who could benefit from a terrible season to get a top draft pick, except they traded all of those picks to St. Louis. one of the issues of trading 3 ones is that you're basically trading 3 NFL players for 1. And sure that works out sometimes (like if RG3 becomes a great QB and the Skins were winning every year) but sometimes its' really bad. If Washington gets a pick in the top 10 this year, St. Louis easily won that trade.

The Skins got a division title and a playoff run in year 1....the rams haven't done ****. Thats a trade the Skins should make any day and it was already beneficial. A good QB is worth at least 3 players without any doubt. (use the Falcons for example, they lose Ryan, they would pick in the top 10)

They have drafted well, but draft picks take time to develop and they need immediate reinforcements in the secondary and at RT. Which should be easily obtainable with the money they will have available.

FWIW I had Washington and Minnesota as my 2 NFC teams who made the playoffs last year who won't this year. Though I picked the Giants to go in the Redskins place and that doesn't look good. Especially with the Giants tendency to stuggle in the second half of the season. If they lose at Carolina they're basically shot. After that they still have road games at the Chiefs, at the Bears, at Washington and Philly, at San Diego, and at Detroit. None of them are easy. Then they still have home games against all of their divisional opponents and some tough teams like Seattle and the Packers. This could shake out to be a miserable year for the Giants if they don't get going in the right direction. Again the only solace for them is that the NFC East is weak.

Yeah I picked Washington in the east, and that may turn out to be ill-advised, or it may not. The winner of this division might be 8-8. The thing the Redskins and Giants have going for them is the Eagles aren't very good defensively, and the Cowboys are the Cowboys.

Saying the Eagles aren't very good defensively is like saying Kate Upton has average sized tits. Massive understatment

Washington might stick around because the division is mediocre, but 0-3 would be brutal. I picked the Cowboys to win that division, but they've yet to show they can handle prosperity.

I think the Vikings and Panthers will get buried.

Tampa is going to get buried too, but I actually like the talent on that team. I thought they would be a surprise team along with the Rams, but they are just a disorganized mess and IMO poorly coached.

I guess the Giants are the most likely of the 0-2 teams to recover, but they have plenty of issues.
