9/13 GAME DAY thread ... Game Two vs Nats

In the span of about 20 seconds Joe compared the Braves young pitchers to Maddux, Glavine and Scherzer. Nice.

I heard that and thought Enscheff will be all over that one. To be fair... he didn't predict anything about the Braves young pitchers, or really compare them to the big guys. He just said that it takes time for young pitchers to learn to pitch in the Bigs, and pointed to a few really good pitchers who didn't start out really good.

I know you like to look at advanced Stats and use them to predict, and you are good at it. You don't need to pad your argument by reading more into that quote than he actually said. The fact is that all great pitchers don't start out great, and the Braves have a lot of young pitchers with whom they should be a bit patient.

Not an outrageous statement.

There was a change to Zimmerman. And another back to back. Then slider in the dirt for a K.

The change is key vs RHers.

Roy HAlladay!

Now Kendrick is worried about covering the change. That's all he needs to accomplish with that pitch and he can be a TOR guy.

Somehow gohara strikes out a bunch of guys and is economical with his pitch count. That was his MO in the minors as well.

Then why not talk about the countless other young pitchers that sucked early in their career and continued to suck until they dropped out of the league?

It's stupid to compare poorly performing pitchers to HOF caliber guys who struggled early. Oh, and Scherzer barely struggled.
