Church shooting - Sutherland Springs, Texas

Speaking of "non-serious proposals"

What would "going after the mfrs" look like? The CEO going to jail? The person who physically built the weapon? The board of directors? The stock holders? The customers?

You know what it would look like. Frivolous lawsuits blaming manufacturers for the failings of people. Every manufacturer would cease sales in the US within a year, then we would have black market AKs from Africa

If someone is going to kill themselves then does cost even matter?

then we'll have a thethe clause where if the buyer signs a paper declaing they are going to use the gun for ...

See how stupid that sentence looks ?

Oh I foolishly thought you were trying to figure out how to stop mass shootings. Silly me.

who cares.
there is a legal mechanism to deal with black market

So you don't want to ban guns and punish the people that make them?

I am appalled there are people profitting off of days like today.
Including Chicago and NY and Phila etc etc etc.

I am further appalled people enable them and make excuses.
Why ?.

Someone made a buck off of today. I surly hope that turns your stomache

This guy owned a car that he used to drive to the church. I'm shocked the car manufacturers made money off of this guy.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, TX—In the hours following a violent rampage in Texas in which a lone attacker killed 27 individuals and seriously injured several others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Sunday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said Kansas resident Britt Mulvanos, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this individual from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what they really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past eight years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

Oh we can prevent it, but the measures necessary for that really aren't realistic. The payoff of lives saved by banning and confiscating guns would also be many decades into the future when compared to the lives lost it would take to get that done. And that's without factoring in the cost of permanent war on gun importation that would make the war on drugs look small by comparison.

57, elaborate on your go after manufacture plan... What would that look like

1st I think weapons manufacturers should be held libel in court for their product's devastation.
Store owners held to the same accountability bar owners are in the cases of DUI deaths
And regulate and tax to high heaven the sale of any part of the equation of ammunition. Not only the manufactures put the retailers

Regulate the amounts of ammunition one person can legally have. Sentence accordingly.

Ever try to buy Sudafed ?

aren't realistic but all of those other countries somehow did it

and we aren't gonna do it cause it will save people in the future?

Things that are hard:
Health Care
Tax Reform
Election Reform
Puerto Rico
Reining in the weapons industry

Did I miss anything ?

A lot of people prayed that Hurricane Irma would not be so devastating... and it substantially lost strength before it got to shore.

My parents pray every day that I don't get gunned down in DC. I have yet to be gunned down.

Your mockery game is silly and unproductive. I've seen probably 30 different people on twitter mocking the victims saying they were gunned down WHILE praying.

Kids get shot multiple times, and you and your ilk like to score political points by mocking them.

Keep it classy, per usual.

So how do we hold them libel? Who faces the punishment? The CEO? The board? The shareholders?

What if a criminal stole a gun that was legally purchased. Still taking down the MFR? If that's the case, don't you support full confiscation? Why not just say it and own it.

And the ball in your court ---- what does it look like maintaining the status quo ?

I don't support the status quo... but I do support it over a bad law.

9/11 happened... the government acted and passed the Patriot Act. That's a bad law that makes things worse. I don't support that.

I haven't heard a gun proposal that I estimate would have stopped these mass killings. much like people get their drugs, and get their prostitutes, they will also get their guns.

Much like you don't live your life being scared of being killed in a terrorist attack... I don't live my life being scared of being mowed down in a mass killing.

I think we have a serious mental illness problem in this country. I'd like to address that... I admittedly don't know how, but have some ideas that I think would be worth exploring
