2017 Winter Meetings Predictions, Rumors, And Actual Happenings

Only possible way I see us getting around giving up Wright (I don't see us giving up Gohara) is if we take on the contracts of Prado and/or Chen.

I'd be totally happy to do so. I think we could maybe get away with Allard or Anderson being the top pitcher in the deal.

We really need to see the package they got for Ozuna to see what it would take from us.

I think they'll want major league ready ro close to major league ready players. I don't know if they'd make it through a lengthy rebuild

Joel Sherman said Alcantara is the biggest prospect in the Ozuna deal and the rest of the minor leaguers aren't of the same level. This might be a steal for St. Louis.

At risk of angering those who believe Frank Wren was a misunderstood genius, I worry that Anthropoulos is going to make similar moves as Wren did and fritter away most of our minor league depth. I don't worship minor league performance and prospects above all else--the goal is to win at the big league level--but if you are a mid-market team, you need to groom replacements as top-tier guys move on. Looking at Anthropoulos' approach in Toronto where relatively few homegrown players contributed greatly to the team's success (especially on offense), I worry that we will once again get to a point where we will be putting patches on tire patches to keep the car on the road.

Wren for sure made some shrewd trades in an effort to win now. But where he failed tremendously was keeping the minor league pipeline flowing, either by trades or draft. He might have lasted longer had he been able to do that.

Piscotty headed to Oakland ? Not done but in the works

It's fun watching every single player that could upgrade the Braves go to other teams.

Rumored return is Yairo Munoz, a FV 40 3B.

Are we supposed to believe the Braves couldn't use an average player in LF for that price?

Are we supposed to believe the Braves couldn't use Headley at 3B when he was given away?

Playing out just like I thought it would...unfortunately

That just doesn't seem real to me. I know they could use a player like him since they're not sold on Wong, but that would be a steal for the A's and a missed opportunity for us for sure

The Braves need to bring in Yelich to calm the masses from this terrible start to the offseason. Newcomb, Anderson Pache and Toussaint for Yelich

The talk is D-Backs may trade Greinke to make room for JD Martinez.....haha here is the yearly let’s go get Greinke post! Might as well sign Lucroy as well!

Piscotty doesn’t carry a lot of value, but certainly more than a fungible prospect.

He is a guy the Braves could have gotten to improve a position they are terrible at, same with Headley.

There are only 2 logical explanations:

1. AA is cooking up something huge

2. The Braves have no money to add anything

Actually now that I look at it may not be a terrible move. If we can involve Markakis in the deal to offset some salary then throw in an average prospect...

4 yrs $126m left on his contract takes him through age 38 season.

Heyman and Nightengale saying Yelich is going nowhere even though he does not want to be there anymore

Smells of the Fish trying to gain leverage in talks. Right now everyone knows they're so desperate to shed payroll they don't have much leverage. Yelich is the one player who is cheap enough that they can sit back and try to drive up the asking price.

I think it’s the fish waiting it out too. No they don’t have to trade him but they are rebuilding and should make everybody who could bring back a haul available. And Yellich will bring back the most.

Or allow them to move dead salary that they desperately need to move.
