The Trump Presidency

Trump also told us in prior years it was on Obama. Not on him now though. Personal responsibility and all that jazz.

but it hasn't for him

he said from the his campaign to him become president he is great at makes deals and leading etc

it hasn't evolved slowly or quickly to anything else for this hack

unless it evolved instantaneously today
but sure, you can argue that if you want

Oh... so it's evolution when it fits your narrative, and hypocrisy when it doesn't.

For the record - I think it's hypocrisy for both. It's just not that hard to be consistent, people

Shumer in 2013: "We could use immigration to threaten a government shutdown, but that would be government chaos!"

Shumer in 2018: "We are going to force a shutdown unless we get immigration"

Goldy: He just evolved, duh!

Trump in 2013: A shutdown falls on the President

Trump in 2018: A shutdown is on congressional leaders

Goldy: Look at that hypocrite!!

You guys make it too easy to dismiss nearly every opinion you make because of how flexible your principles are

I'll concede the Schumer point. Never have cared for him. As for Trump, he was spouting the same **** on the campaign trail and on the whatever trail after his election. We've now seen he's mostly talk and full of ****.

Everyone knows Trump is a moron. But I think he probably underestimated just how partisan and petty the R/D dynamic is in this country. In business, it's easier to get people together to come to a deal because there is an obvious common goal of making money.

There are no common goals of politics other than more government control

I'm already bored of discussing who deserves the blame or what each side has said in the past regarding the topic. In my opinion we can all play politics forever to turn the shutdown into points against the other side, or we can look at the policy behind the positions that got us here. From my perspective, the Right pushed back action on CHIP way too far during the debate over taxes, then tried to take a hard line on DACA to get concessions on border control. With that framing my opinion, I prefer the stance taken by Democrats, and support what they have done. For a person who prioritized Tax Reform and Border Security, I can see where they would disagree with me. But looking at what was said 4 years ago by Trump and Schumer is pointless.

Even Bill Maher agrees with a concept of merit based immigration. He essentially joked we are to the left of Canada on an issue.

I hope the left continues to push immigration as a core issue.
