They do not just read . They go scout them in person. They are homers and admit it. They spend time watching the guys and get invested.

They were on acuna before anyone else I knew. Had him number one last year iirc.

They are really high on encarnacion

Aside from the absurd Minter ranking, this is a pretty solid list. The extra pozzy take on every player is expected from a Braves fan site.

I tend to doubt their ability to actually scout players when they say things like, “When Gohara struggles with his command it often centers around his fastball moving so much that he is unable to keep it in the zone, as it features a late arm side fade and sink that rivals any pitcher in baseball.”

Gohara’s fastball is an elite rising 4-seamer. To say it has sink is complete ignorance.

This list is more along the lines of a solid compilation of publicly available data, and very little new work or insights provided by the authors. Just because they “went down to Orlando to catch his pro debut” doesn’t mean they have any actual scouting info or knowledge to share.

I have several disagreements with this list, but its not the worst I've seen. I would put Gohara at 2. I think he is the best pitching prospect we have pretty easily. I'd put Allard a spot or two lower and Anderson a few spots higher. I have Anderson above Allard on my list. Cumberland over Contreras is just silly in my opinion. Hell, I think I would put Contreras over Jackson, but maybe I am the high man on him. I think he is the best catching prospect we have and could be a top 100 candidate sooner rather than later. Lastly, Minter is easily one of the top 20 prospects in our organization. I don't care if he is a reliever or not, he is going to be fantastic if he stays healthy. I'm probably more confident in his ability than any prospect on this list.

Very good list. And it really points the way to how a winning team is going to emerge from this group of talent. In particular, the high upside pitching (Gohara, Soroka, Wright and Allard to some extent) will determine how far this team goes. As they move into the major league rotation, they create opportunities to trade for hitters. We will likely have two sorts of trade chips. Major leaguers (like Teheran, Folty and Newcomb) as they get displaced by Gohara, Soroka, Wright and Allard. And we will have some leftovers in the minors who we can also use as trade chips (Fried, Wentz, Anderson, Toussaint, Wilson). Sure there will be some attrition. But even with normal attrition, we should be able to put together some trades to round out the lineup with some pretty good players.

It's not a bad list. I think Muller is about 6 spots too low and Dpete/Demeritte about 6 spots too high, but that's the biggest gripe I could come up with.

It seems like everyone including myself ranks Dpete/Demeritte together. It's like nobody knows exactly what to do with them.

Basically every ranking service out there has seen most of the guys, whether it's in person or video.

As far as Acuna, they were on him primarily because one of Baseball Prospectus' writers was on him, and they did not have him #1 last year (they moved him to #1 in their midseason list), as they had Swanson in that spot with Albies #2.

Matt and Gaurev were hyped on Encarnacion, Vazquez, and Contreras from my previous rankings as they were getting more involved with the TC team this year as we talked before they started playing, and I think they were all surprised just how many of the DSL guys from 2016 that I told them to get eyes on at GCL were the ones that stood out naturally (Ramos and Yoeli Lopez being two others). Encarnacion is a guy who will rank quite high in a lot of places. BA guys have hinted that he was a strong discussion for the handbook BEFORE the punishment came down.

This is an example of the prospect “content” produced by TC:

https://www.talkingchop.com/2018/2/...he-asian-market-impact-players-atlanta-braves

Which was regurgitated from info in this article written 2 days prior by FG:

https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-top-mlb-prospects-of-asia/

They didn’t even have the decency to credit the FG article for all the content they stole.

TC doesn’t scout anyone. They don’t know ****.

It says credit to Fangraphs and Beyond the Box Score for the idea for the article in the middle of it with links to the story you posted. Not as obvious as I would like, but they did mention it themselves.

Also, they do look at the kids with untrained eyes. I wouldn’t call it scouting necessarily though. To say otherwise is to call like five guys liars separately.

Ah, yes, wedged right there between a large ad and another image haha.

As opposed to His Highness of Blackjack who is the first to credit FanGraphs and Law since that's where his "original thoughts" come from directly. Cut-and-Paster of the Century.

We should compare the original content created by the two of us.

Shall we?

No need - you win...

you're absolutely the only person that's ever posted here that feels the need for *hit like that - seriously. But please feel free to waste more time trying to figure that out and then boring the *hit out of the rest of the board with your report after you ask somebody at FanGraphs if your calculations are right during one of their chats.

Interesting question though - I was always of the belief that labor, alcohol, and gambling laws forbade 8 year-olds from being anywhere near a casino. Do your employers realize they're going to get busted soon? I've also wondered if we've ever seen your picture on a milk carton since your parents are bound to have reported their missing child to someone.

I need clarification on your disturbing attempt at being funny. A very odd turn you've taken to insult me, indeed, but it doesn't even make sense.

You're accusing me of abducting children, and then bringing them to a casino? Correct?

Why would my face be on a milk carton if the abducted children are the ones missing, and why would my parents notice other children missing?

You need to regroup and try again. Maybe come up with something a little less disturbing, and a little more funny.

This started out ok. But went to WTF fast

Ok, obviously everyone believes/knows enscheff works at a casino. Did enscheff release this info or does he have an internet stalker?
