Bolton got shunted to the UN gig because C. Rice thought he was a counterproductive loose cannon at State. He couldn't get confirmed for UN Ambassador even when the bloom was still on the rose for Bush. He's not going to be a stabilizing influence. He's probably not going to get along with Trump, either. Criminy.

And when a recession/cooling off period is already likely and you throw in an unnecessary tax break to billionaires, de-regulate the banking industry, who have in recent memory proven to need regulation, and then play havoc on the stock market with a sudden trade war, the chances are good that you are going to help bring on the next economic cycle, which after 103 straight months of economic growth (Thx Barack) is not going to be more growth.

Anyhow, I asked why runnin thinks a recession is coming. You haven't answered that. You posted a bunch of links about it. There will never be a day that we're alive where you won't be able to find hundreds of predictions about recessions.

Have you been following the economic data? The fed just proejected unemployment to go all the way down to 3.6%

But a recession could happen. The question is, why do you think it will?

I assure you I'm more informed on the topic than you are. We will certainly have another recession at some point in medium term (5-15 years). But there is nothing in the data to suggest 2018 is that year. Business profits at all time highs. Unemployment super low. That's not a recipe for recession.

Anyhow, I'd love hear runnins thoughts, not a bunch of Google articles you scrambled to find. I read those stories every day. It's my job as I work for a massive financial institution.

Non-defense discretionary spending as a % of GDP fell during the Reagan years.

Reagan actually fought hard for spending cuts. He was not always successful, but it was a priority of his.

Disaster...Trump could have actually stood for something but he's just like all the disgraceful politicians in office. I'll still hope for his success but the idea that he will be a 'different' kind of president is out the window.
