GDT: PHILS vs BRAVES [Game 3]

Jerry Layne put the blame for the bullpen screwup on the Phillies but let Milner warm up because he felt it was unfair to risk Milner's health. He then said whoever was responsible with the Phils should have to answer to MLB.

My question for Jerry Layne is how did he let this end with Snitker getting ejected and not Kapler. That's on the umpiring crew.

What should have happened is Kapler should have been ejected and then Milner should have gotten his tosses. This ending with Snitker getting tossed was ridiculous.

Umps did us a favor. Losing snit and keeping kapler in there is a big plus for the braves tactically.

Prediction: a discussion about how much Flaherty has increased his trade value begins on this board very soon.

Tehteh takes the opportunity to assure us about supply and demand.

Time to trade Riley for some pitching prospects, now that we have that pesky 3B problem solved.

managers get tossed to light a fire under their team...we had a tremendous record in games Bobby got tossed.

I don’t think snit got tossed last night to light a fire under his team. He was truly pissed, and should’ve been

Almost 38k in attendance last night, bringing the opening Fri/Sat total to 73k. Last year they sold out the opening Fri/Sat games, so about 82k.

That’s a drop of 10%+, and if it holds is actually better than most ballparks fare in their second season.

The Braves almost certainly baked a 10%-20% drop in attendance from 2.5M in 2017 into their projections this year, and is why we saw payroll drop accordingly. Some noise in the WC race will be required to match last year’s 2.5M figure.

“Kapler used 21 pitchers in losing two of the season's first three games”

“But the shift hasn't worked well for the Phillies

Opponents 9-for-19 when hitting grounder/short liner vs Phillies shifts

(including 7-for-17 when they use a full shift with 3 men on one side of field)“

Just get the feeling that these guys may be overthinking things a bit.

If you’re shifting versus Markakis, you’re doing it wrong

Over the long haul, it will work

Or

Kap will be fired by June

(I think 2nd)

If Swanson is going to be good this year watch out. Might get that WC.

Swanson will be one of the keys. I know you are high on Camargo but if we get production from the left side of the infield then the Braves will have a good position player group. At that point it will fall on the pitchers to where they end up.
