Nice strikeout of our old friend Mallex Smith. BTW, I wish we'd grabbed Jonny Venters when Tampa Bay cut him this past ST before bringing him back. Venters looks very good again, hit 94 mph on that sinker again. I was impressed.
It's a combination of two things. Neck is striking out only 8% of the time compared to the mid to low teens in previous years. Obviously putting more balls in play will help his numbers. And either by luck or design his launch angle has increased and instead of line drives for singles you are seeing doubles and homers.
