2018 MLB Draft Thread

Klaw hating on bravesso far.

Loved first pick. Said in chat the second pick has no position or offspead recognition. Beck can’t miss bats as the above poster said.

We will see. I like the picks. I do not expect to hit on more than a couple. Sometimes you get a medlen sometimes a Braxton Davidson.

To me we have a ton of fifth starters already. Aa might be loading up the trade chips. Beck for moose, royals love college starters

KLaw was also the guy who said Riley has poor bat speed, and stuck with it forever. Everyone else identified it as a long swing path fairly quickly.

I don’t really consider his opinion valid anymore. He does no scouting and is nothing more than a collector of whatever opinions are willing to talk to him.

Everyone else says Jenny can likely stick in a corner OF spot.

Great call out.

And you can find scouts who swim against the tide on a player quite easily, so Law can just play to confirmation bias.

Moritz looks like a decent pick. A more accomplished version of Keith Curcio.

Looks like he was less accomplished in the Cape Cod League than the Braves’ second-round pick, however.

Decent walk and strikeout rates (~10% and ~17%, respectively), but a low average and no power, to the tune of .243/.323/.279. Much better numbers for Greensboro, obvs.

Hopefully he has the same intangibles.

I'm no history buff, but wasn't that like 5+ years ago when he was 17 years old?

I’m no math buff, but I think it was 6+ years ago when he was 15. Not sure your point here, though? It’s still a PR issue for the drafted player and drafting team—though maybe it gives the Rockies a little more leverage?

The seniors begin. Anyone know anything about Brooks Wilson? Seamless unity of Brooks Conrad and Bryse Wilson?

Law also said Drew Waters “can’t hit” and basically had little shot of getting to the Majors
