It's complicated because these two things are correlated,

but the hypothesis that Trump won the election because he

stoked racial anxiety has a lot more evidence behind it than the

hypothesis that he won because of immigration policy per se.

Trump's tweet this AM about how immigrants will "infest our Country" speaks to this point.

The family separation policy is unpopular, and has lukewarm support even among his base,

so he turns up the racial anxiety dial several notches.
 
Thank you for the link. I didn’t need it cause In case you missed the title. It was being appreciative of what he did with a hostile Congress and I also said I wouldn’t forget him.

You dont understand. Sure they were the bad guys during slavery. Sure they were the bad guys during Jim Crow. Sure they were the bad guys during segregation. Sure they were the bad guys during the civil rights movement. But now. Today. They are the good guys with unimpeachable integrity.



I bet Jeff Sessions watched Djanjo and wondered why everyone was cheering for the criminal.

what are you even talking about? you're adopting and accepting trump's ways at an impressive speed. you don't even try and make sense.
all of america isn't racist. trump has emboldened people like this racist, tho. shockingly, he's a trump supporter. shockingly, every time someone is filmed going on a racist rant like this one, they're trump supporters. just a coincidence, i'm sure!

The difference here is Bernie Sanders did not propose and champion the craziness.

First thing: I'm not sure what "bipartisan legislation" is out there. Dems have a bill to end the policy. Ted Cruz has a bill that does likewise, but mostly only muddies the water, including severely undercutting the asylum-seeking process. Dems are right to stick to their guns: first, because this policy stems from an executive branch decision, and could be rescinded just as easily. Why should they negotiate with the hostage-takers when the majority opinion is that the policy should be unilaterally revoked? Next thing is that it follows an administration decision on how to prosecute immigration cases, which is actually the root of the problem, and could be similarly reversed without legislation.

I'll quote Republican Senator Lamar Alexander of TN:

“Well, the White House could change it in 5 minutes and they should. It’s a mistake. It's a change in policy by this administration.”

It's spectacularly disingenuous to try to take the onus off Trump here.

Looking at the current GOP character, what does one see? rampant, unrepentant greed, sex abusers and misogynists coddled and cheered, the shoveling of lies non-stop into the media machine, daily attacks on every sacred pillar of government civilized society, the daily stoking of tribal fears and hatred, and the implementation of racists policies. When you think about it, the racism is hardly the worst of it. It's time to call this Trump led GOP group what it really is - pure EVIL.

sturg, tell us about those "family values" and conservative principles.
