GDT 6/19- the MIGHTY SOROKA on AL Turf....

They have really improved with this good run we have been on... even a .500 stretch wouldn't kill us.

The mark of a good team is handling it's business against teams they should beat. Overall the Braves have done that this year.

I also like that the starting pitching has stepped up in June as the offense has cooled off.

To me, that's a signifcant FYI. Figure in salaries and the actual possibility of improvement for Camargo as he approaches his prime......

Also if you combine his numbers from last year and this year you start having enough at bats to get a pretty good idea of what he is as a hitter. Career slash line of .276/.340/.451. Career WAR of 2.1 in 437 plate appearances.

Career BABIP is .323. Not much "luck" in that kind of a number.

So maybe Camargo is good enough to be a regular third baseman.

As AA alluded to last night Camargo really hits the ball better as a righty. Going forward I feel he would be best used as a super utility player and getting a lot of starts versus lefties.

I’m most concerned about any further decline in velocity for Soroka.

This really isn't what we want to see with young SPs. Soroka at 91 is a lot different than Soroka at 94.

It is a fact. His exit velocity hitting RHed is much better than it is LHed.

I would expect to see the Braves on the hunt for someone similar to guys on this list:

Average exit velocity on LDs for LHed hitting 3B in 2017-2018 (min 10 LDs)
1. Gallo 99.9
2. Solarte 96.5
3. Devers 96.0
4. Descalso 95.6
5. Ruiz 95.8
6. Valbuena 95.8
7. Asdrubel 95.2
....
30. Camargo 90.2

Valbuena and Asdrubel stick out as likely candidates. Asdrubel can also cover SS if needed.

Unfortunately, I can't unhear "Ass Dribble"
