To everyone who has tweeted back, "Not me, I can PROVE I'm a citizen" -- you miss the point.

Without due process, who will you "prove" it to? Where will you show your proof?

A right to a hearing / judicial review protects ALL of us.

Ronald Klain added,

If Trump can deny due process to those allegedly here unlawfully,

ICE can grab YOU, allege you aren’t a citizen & deport you w/out a hearing

Been done before to Mexican American citizens.

Called the Mexican repatriation 1929 - 1936.

Is history taught in school anymore?

This is why I find it ludicrous bringing up Obama in terms of deportations. I disagreed then and now over Obama's deportation policies. But did he ever publicly float the idea of suspending due process ?

Yes.

Remember when he assassinated a US citizen?

No mention of Trump suggestion of suspending due process in immigration cases
Hmmm

#Taxbreaks

I think it's awful.

As per usual, granting the government unlimited authority leads to worse and worse abuse of it.

Sad that we can't just government based on the Constitution

"The expansion of MS-13 and 18th street presence in Central America after the US began deporting illegal aliens, mostly with criminal records, back to the triangle region"

Congressional Research Service.

So MS-13 was created in LA. Then we started deporting a bunch of criminals to a small area. Those criminals joined gangs like MS-13 who made up some of the deported making it a much stronger and trans national gang.

This was due to the Illegal Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. Now who was President in 1996?

So sturg, where do you fall on the right to free speech barometer with the immigration stuff.

National guardsman, posts "they're lucky we arent executing them". Gets punished.

Employee of DoT in Oregon says we should shoot them to save taxpayers money. She may get fired.

Alabama musician says he'd volunteer to shoot them at the border problem solved. Was fired from his band and lost his gig.

Free speech protects you from criminal charges, not a job.

I am not familiar with most of these stories, but I'd say that they should be fired due to the fact that they seem to be publicly threatening the life of someone, even if they are joking

The band thing is up to the band of course... They can do whatever they want with the guy

Texas tried to change the designation of the "baby jails" to "childcare centers" but a judge blocked that since they don't meet the requirements. So the private prison company wrote legislation currently in the Texas State Congress that lowers the definition of "childcare center" so their facilities meet it. Then they can hold kids there indefinitely.

I need to hear thethe's opinion on this. Or maybe JaRule.

Who are you talking to? This board is only leftists and a couple libertarians

Wrong. This board is mostly moderates who lean a little conservative or liberal, depending on the issue. Very normal and middle of the road. I consider myself a moderate, somewhat Draconian in my views on law enforcement, but having grown up in the South, I'm hyper-aware of the GOP's racist past and views in general, which continue to disgust me.

I got news for you... "moderate" is very liberal these days. I am quite sure I could name 10 things that I would support based solely on the constitution and you would vehemently object because they are not big government enough for ya

And "conservative" these days means a white-skinned cult who wants to live off in the hills apart from the world and abuse women at their leisure. Just because you can base something on the constitution doesn't make it right.

Your idea of little government does NOT line up with a huge economy and a growing, multi-cultural populace that wants to challenge and break every restraint on pure freedom. The government has to maintain control, especially when so many want to abuse the system.
