That is the dumbest thing anyone has ever said. Losing your 8th overall pick pick your org is super cheap is not easy to stomach.
So you want to forfeit a top 10 pick on an injured player?

Come on. You take all the cheap international free agents, I’ll take all the big money ones. Who’s going to end up with better players?
Exactly. And if Stewart has to miss time because of this injury, it’s even further moot. They could easily pick a college bat/arm that would be further along the developmental path than Stewart is. Non issue.
Why people care about draft grades astonishes me. What matters is how many prospects you have in a given time horizon. Shifting a first rounder from one year to the next hardly impacts that.
If losing Stewart gives us an F grade this year, do we get an A+++ for having two first round picks next year?

I would gladly prefer signing a healthy Stewart over the alternative, but the Braves have to make due with the situation as it is.
Just give up and move on. The Braves screwed up by not signing him. Watch him go to another team next year and then dominate.
People really aren’t putting any stock into this injury thing are they?So you want to forfeit a top 10 pick on an injured player?
Yeah.... this is disappointing, but it really not a big deal... I don't think folks are completely grasping how little of a deal this is.
I'm not talking about his slot value. As the Braves were preparing for the draft, they had a budget of $8,267,300 that they were prepared to spend on this draft. Now the $4.9 million slot for Stewart isn't being given to him, so we're only spending about $3.37 million of it right now. So we already had that $4.9 million budgeted, where will the team be spending it?
Depends on what we do with the pick next year.
And shifting a first rounder by a year would make less of an issue if not for the sanctions we're currently under and the prospects we lost. We'll need to refill the system as fast as possible.
Also, no Stewart means no Hess. So that's less than ideal.
The Braves could have had added an incredible talent but screwed it up and got nothing...It's a pretty big ****ing deal.
“Nothing” is not remotely trueThe Braves could have had added an incredible talent but screwed it up and got nothing...It's a pretty big ****ing deal.
Agreed. And I read the Braves have only once (1995) not sign their 1st round pick since 1965.
Good question... we had our most high profile set of international signings ever... I'm not missing a single one at this point... none of them are considered big prospects. Yet, we've really hit some major homeruns on the cheap ones... seems like the cheapies could very well end up being better players in many circumstances.
Incredible talent who's wrist may not work anymore? We won't have a shot at another incredible talent next year? You're being ridiculous. Lets sign him, even if a serious injury was revealed that will likely affect his best pitch! GREAT PLAN. Also enjoying quite a few of the players we've already gotten in the draft who are looking great.
“Nothing” is not remotely true
You're retarded, aren't you?
