Buts not like the first 15 starts this year don’t count. Is he that good, no. Is he this bad. No. They would be like saying Ozzie was the player he was during his bad stretch. Obviously he’s bounced back and is back raking.

The difference is I didn’t need to see these few bad starts to identify the type of pitcher Newk is. I knew what he was after his first 100 innings at the MLB level.

He is a ~2 win guy, either as a frustrating #4, or a high leverage BP arm. Guys at his age are very unlikely to improve their command significantly, and I’ve been saying so for months.

A lot of folks didn’t want to hear it. A lot of folks argued endlessly against me, as usual. One guy even quoted me in his sig because he thought I was proven wrong.

All those folks were wrong, as usual. They will be wrong again the next time.

Ah, so short-sighted. What's true today must be true for tomorrow.

I won't put the pretender contender deal that seems to aggravate you guys, but it's true. Our 1-2 punch has given up a 5-spot each this series. Both are due major regression. We simply don't have the pitching

You don’t see a difference between Folty’s 5 run outing and Newk’s 5 run outing?

Here’s a hint 7:0 vs 3:4.

I think the point was that his command was unlikely to improve significantly. Unlikely being the key word. Doesn't mean it can't happen. Just not smart to count on it. Newk is fine being currently in the rotation. Just need to understand that some of the younger guys coming up through the system have a better chance of success.

Dude. Seriously who cares. It’s an internet message board. The results of which make zero difference in the lives of people.

Some people got too over zealous hoping he was gonna be real good. It is obvious he has flaws. I don’t see the high leverage bullpen guy without somewhat decent control anyway. But like was said earlier, he’s on a bad stretch right now, he’s not this bad. Or as good as he has looked at times. It’s pretty much always somewhere in between.
