You think a .700 OPS vs RHers at 3B is starter caliber for a playoff team?

I mean, its not like he would be a star, but if he could put up an .850ish OPS vs. lefties that would put him in a ballpark of what? A .750 to .770 OPS? With his plus defense at 3rd base that is probably a 3 win player over the course of the season. It would be fringe, but playoff teams have definitely had starters that were much worse.

I don't know, maybe you're right. Maybe .700 would be too low for him to be playoff starter caliber, but would a .720? .730? I'm genuinely curious how good he would have to be from the left side before he hit that threshold.

The cost of bringing in a platoon mate is so low that it doesn't really matter. Finding a LHH with big platoon splits is so easy, why would any team settle for such a low OPS at 3B vs RHP?

Yeah maybe you're right. I guess I'm still in the mindset of wanting to give Camargo enough at bats to see what is for real and what isn't. Wanting to see his development. I'm totally in favor of bringing a guy like you mentioned in and have been advocating it. I guess I just wanted him deployed a little bit differently. But yeah if we are going to be in contention, roll out the best players given the situation.
