2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

For the first time in alll the years that folksa round here have been clamoring for silly trade ideas to get a TOR guy, this id the first year where...

1. The Braves are actually in position to win NOW
2. The Braves don't have a top position prospect like Swanson/Albies/Acuna another team can demand
3. The Braves have plenty of cash to absorb the entire contract

I'm not saying it's likely, but now it's plausible.

We all love the prospects, but it's important to realize just how risky the ones of the pitching variety are. Even if the trade hurts now, chances are they won't come back to bite the Braves too badly.

With respect to #2, I'm starting to think it would make sense to include Riley in our offer. I know you don't rate Camargo. But he's played 163 games and been a 3 WAR play over that span. I think he is still improving.

The Rays could have had Gohara a few months ago, and took Mallex instead.

They tend to value sure things, and Gohara is...not that.

This is true. Still Gohara has more value now, but less than a few months ago, than when the Rays opted for Mallex.

Based on what we saw yesterday, I do believe that Wilson to AAA probably means another starting pitcher from that rotation is leaving soon in a trade, just hopefully not Toussaint/Wright (seems like it's not though).

They traded two of Gwinnett's starters last night. A third is pitching in Atlanta tonight. How many spots you think they need to fit him in?

(they very well may trade someone from Gwinnett today)

Entering 2015, #stlcards had five outfield prospects that we ranked in the Top 15 for Baseball America's top 30.

3. Piscotty
4. Grichuk
9. Tilson
10. Sierra
15. Pham

All have been in the majors this season. All now traded by #Cardinals. #MLB

Prospects are fickle... go for the sure thing, AA.

Starting rotation when Allard goes back down (if no one traded).

Toussaint
Wright
Allard
Gohara
Parsons

That's 5 sir without factoring Bryse Wilson in. Although I was originally thinking that they'd simply bump Sims and Wisler from the rotation, and as Parsons is a non prospect, they might simply bump him, but Wilson to AAA could indicate another move coming since while he's dominated lately, he's 20 and there shouldn't be a rush.

IF we do get archer, i think A LOT of people here will freak out about the price.
it is going to be steep.

Don’t think they will actually get Archer. Although trading those guys yesterday who were good prospects for an MLB player was surprising. He’s under team control and cheap relative to what good starting pitchers get and considering how scared of spending money the Braves are.
