Phillies lose in 14 innings, so we have a real opportunity with two games today.

Philly just traded for Bour.
Philly just traded for Bour.
Depending on the price on Bour, I might have seriously considered jumping on him just to block him from the Phillies. Even if it's pricey, it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to just keep carrying Flaherty on the active roster. It's because....why outside of being related to Markakis?

Phillies just added a career .816 ops bench bat that has notoriously killed the braves. AA still has flaherty. If the braves come up just short in playoff race, AA should get plenty of blame for holding flaherty for so long. No excuse
i'll counter with they also have bad players on their bench (kingery, knapp) and they just acquired another poor defender. basically no one on that squad plays good defense. it's pretty amazing their pitchers have the numbers they do.
Knapp is 0.5 fWAR in 66 games. Kingery is at least a future piece. We're holding on to flaherty who is at -0.2 fWAR in 70 games. RF has no role on this team other than bench bat, and he's horrible at hitting... career .637 ops. He has no future here either. He is just a waste of a roster spot on a contending team. Just a brain dead move by AA holding him
i'm not saying i support keeping RF. i don't.
but who cares that kingery is a future piece? what does that mean for this season where he's been terrible?
bour just doesn't do much to move the needle.
Hope not, but it could affect head-to-head games. Bour career ops vs braves = 1.023 (202 PA)
