2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

With Newk and Sanchez going through their inevitable regressions, there is an outside chance Gausman could post the 2nd highest WAR of all Braves SPs despite only being with the team for 2 months.

Folks love to talk about how stacked the Braves are with pitching, but reality dictates they are not a team that can afford to trade away Kevin Gausman.

Duda and Granderson seem like the only natural fits left on the market. Granderson is probably the more versatile of two but Duda hits RHP a little better.

Wonder if a somewhat healthy showing tonight in Dunedin might prompt AA to try to add Donaldson (if he makes it to us) AND Granderson in the same deal?

I love Heyward but his contract sucks, mainly the length of it, and his offense has regressed, but he is having a nice bounce back year.

Braves are deep in pitching but giving away Gausman for Heyward would be all-time bad. Fortunately i dont think AA is that dumb.

Donaldson begins his rehab today in A+. Assuming the Jays place him on waivers immediately upon the start of his rehab, he will clear waivers sometime on August 30th. That gives the Jays somewhere in the neighborhood of 24 hours to find a trade partner. It is not a coincidence that his rehab started today.

JD is owed roughly $3.8M rest of season, so it isn't exactly chump change to acquire him. I don't think anyone will risk claiming him, but a team might get bold knowing the Jays won't give him away to a claiming team, and will simply pull him back.

He is all but guaranteed to be given a QO, which will likely result in a pick around #75 for the Jays. Picks around #75 tend to be mid-range 40s, so the acquiring team would need to beat that value in terms of a prospect package to even get the Jays to consider trading him. In the case of the Braves, that means someone one the back end of their Top 20.

If the acquiring team wants the Jays to eat cash, and it seems like the Braves would need that to happen, they will likely have to kick in a 45, or multiple 40s.

awesome! what has he done since? been terrible to average.
what was alex gordon's wRC+ before 2016? should we pursue him? why not?

I'll play the game. 110. ANd should we pursue him, nope. Because he's a 34 year old who's for sure has his best years behind him.

Yall think AA goes for Donaldson, would be a great fit for the stretch run.

If he made it to us, not sure compensation wise what it would cost though.

Except 40 man roster could get interesting. But they could claim him with no intention of making a serious trade.

But they do run a risk, however small it may be, that the Jays just let him go for free, and at that point, they'd have some 40 man issues.

JD is not aging gracefully. He's only played 27 this year in the field(26 at 3rd, 1 at 1st). In 2017 he played 109 in the field(105 at 3rd, 4 at SS). IMO, he's not worth the money owed for the rest of this season, not to mention he'd have to be on the Braves roster in 2 days to be eligible for PS. I doubt that he makes it past the AL claims.

I don't see the Indians or Red Sox letting him slip past so it's probably a moot point. Arizona, St. Louis at Pitt would all likely be interested as well.
