SUNDAY Sept. 16 vs Nats (Newcomb on hill)

while we lost the series, good news is that Nats needed a sweep but didn't get one. Also, Philly needed to sweep Marlins too but didn't wasting a good shot at picking up two games in two days. So still 6 and a half up.

magic number is 8. Phillies realistically need to sweep the Braves in those 7 games to have a chance. And I don't see any way that happens.

Culberson almost had two homers this game, too bad his first one went foul or we might of won today. He sure killed the Nats this year, esp. that series he hit homers in three straight games.

agreed, plus if that happens you have to fire snit so we would win there as Bochy might be available to manage this off season. This team with Bochy managing would be very good.

nsacpi, you can thank me for not taking your bet against Culberson having a poor second half. I think it's safe to say he has proven you wrong this late in Sept. :)

The giants gonna fire bochy? I'd replace snit with him in heartbeat

I think his contract is up and not decided on re-signing. But if they want him back he will stay im sure. But they might want new blood and if so whoever gets him will be getting a great manager. Great players manager who is one of the best at putting his players in spots to do well and good at managing a bullpen too.

Would be very weird for the Giants to let Bochy go. Delivered them 3 WS in 5 years.

That is just the talk, I don't think anything has been decided. It may be mostly speculation by his contract not being renewed yet. I heard this when they were losing to us and on that long losing streak. MLBTR reported it too I think.

I assume it's what Bochy wants to do. Giants won't be contending anytime soon and does he want to go through a rebuild?

Well Bochy said he hopes to be managing them next year.

I think the Giants have given him essentially a lifetime handshake contract. He can leave whenever he wants. He went through some rough years in San Diego too.

It could be just speculation based on them not renewing him, but even if they wait and he gets bigger offers elsewhere he may stay there if that handshake deal is in place.

it too Charlie a while to get his first hit in September but he is making up for lost time...still think his 2018 results are mostly luck

He isn't an .830 OPS player like his year thus far, but his 6 homers vs the Nats is mostly him just owning them. Even when he sucked at hitting in the past he got big hits vs them according to Nats announcers (mostly base hits though, not all these homers). They were calling him a Nats killer before he had two homers vs them this year. Anytime we play them he should start, lol.

BTW, AA admitted to ESPN recently in an interview that even he didn't see Culberson doing this on offense and said he traded for him and kept him around for his defense not his offense. AA has called him a plus defender at short multiple times, same as me.
