Brantley or Cutch seem realistic for the cOF spot. Just a matter of which one they like more. Or could trade for one, AA hasnt touched the farm system yet.

Gray had good numbers away from YS, but i'd aim higher if we're going to be making bold moves.

Could be an arm from the Indians with the return being Newk/Fried. They seem dead set on adding a SP, and I agree they are probably aiming higher than Gray.

Grabbing JD was a clear swing for the fences move with limited downside. Very exciting indeed.

Sherman on twitter- Current #Braves plan is for Camargo (displaced from 3b by Donaldson) to become their Marwin Gonzalez. Already plays 2b, SS, 3b. Plan is to work in at 1b in spring, maybe corner OF to keep getting regular ABs.

Makes most sense to use him in a super UTIL role. Braves today essentially improved the bench and lineup with one move in Donaldson. And if he gets hurt, you have a good backup plan in Camargo.

Exactly, and it’s rather obvious. It’s been obvious for a long time this was Camargos ultimate role.

JD is a walking injury list, and Camargo is essential as an insurance policy.

There's no downside to this. Braves still flush with cash next winter, best case Donaldson is back and helps the Braves make a deep playoff run this year. If he's hurt, you have Camargo in your back pocket.

The downside is Mac is the other catcher. Signing JD forced them to go cheap at C.

Was that the right play? Quite possibly if Grandal was going to cost $80M.

with injuries and all Camargo is going to get over 500 PAs

Yeah, catcher being a platoon again could bite AA in the ass if JD is injured all year. Depends what outfielder they get though.

I have to think the risk of JD will make them want a more reliable cOF. That’s why I lean towards Cutch over Brantley now.

I think this signing increases the likelihood that we go the trade route for the corner outfield spot. I'm still not sure what to believe in regards to pitching. My gut is telling me that they make a medium sized addition or nothing at all. I don't think a yuge trade for pitching is going to be coming.

I also think that we'll prefer a LH cOF after this signing. It all points to David Peralta once again, which means that it will be someone completely different and completely off the radar.

Peralta had a career year and he's 32, meh.

Brantley would make alot of sense. Dude can hit when healthy, but the issue there is how many years will it take to get him. I could get to 3 years, 4 would be too much imo. This is if the Braves have the money for him.

Regarding pitching, i think we'll add a bullpen arm but not sure what type of one. I think we'll wait until the deadline for a SP or not. Bumgarner at the deadline would be smart if he proves to be elite. But he might cost more then than now though since his value isnt as high.

They could always go the Fuller route and get a young cost controlled SP.

And which one of those are available. I do believe we'll make one big trade this winter involving some prospects, anyones guess as to who, AA plays it close to the vest.
