GDT: 4/7 Newk vs. the World

Man, how stupid is Braves Twitter? People are seriously asking for Donaldson to be demoted and 1-14 Camargo to be the everyday 3rd baseman. Some are even asking to call Riley up.

How do these morons even manage to make it out of bed in the morning?

Same ones thinking that Kimbrel is elite and wanting the moon in pay.

Oh, and now there are people wanting to go back and trade Acuna for Yelich. ****ing dumbasses.

The discussion is crazy but lets not act like we would be upset with having Yellich for a long time either.

Luckily we have Acuna for the next 50 years!

Considering that the execrable (IMHO) Tiger Woods meme (apologies UNCblue, seeing it as a message board avatar is nowhere near as irritating) came about after only 3 games, then the sky is the limit as to what Wile E. Coyote supergenius level stuff can be tweeted.

The only reason that was brought up was because of Acuna’s “slow” start. It’s pathetically reactionary and stupid.

Like Viz.

He gave up a homer. Closers do that from time to time. When Viz ERA is almost a full run ERA than Kimbrel last year, that means you are not elite.

Donaldson has been pissing me off at the plate. But Jesus I had no idea his defense was elite. His reflexes or reaction time or what ever you wanna call it is off the chart thus far. The infield defense is going to win some games for us. It is special all around the dirt.

Dondalson hasn't been great since 15 with the glove for a full year but he's picking it well right now. Very encouraging.

How do you think it would work out if all 7 guys were on the major league team and you alternate Soroka/Fried/Newk/Wright as starters using a piggyback system?

If only there was a way you could improve your team by trading players.

They probably “work” for DIRECTV.

I’m going to guess Wright will be the easiest to send to AAA, and has the most to work on that can actually be worked on in AAA. Newk likely ends up in the BP by the end of the year. Soroka is probably on a pretty strict innings limit this year, so he might not make more than 15 starts at the MLB level. Teheran is likely to lose starts due to lack of effectiveness.

There should be plenty of starts to get them all in without doing any piggybacking, but the Braves are definitely set up to ceate some sort of novel pitching strategy with all these good but not great SP options.

Ninth inning when everything goes your way.

-infield hit off the pitcher to start the inning
-missed check swing strike to Acuna
-catcher's interference negating a double play
-ugly passed ball putting a runner on third
-Muk walking after being down 0-2
-game winning hit by Swanson

Did I miss anything? I'll try to remember this the next time the breaks seem to all be going against us. 8^)

7 innings from the starter and a quality start after a bad inning. Everything factors in.

Dude I am floored by the progress Dansby has made. I know its still a super small sample, but something looks different with him. He looks very confident at the plate. He looks like a number 1 pick.

People get tired of "going the other way" mantra, but it didn't become a mantra for no reason.

Pulling the ball is clearly the path to better production. However, flying open trying to pull the ball is bad, and having the mindset of going the other way helps fix that problem.

It’s a case of folks arguing a particular side of a discussion without understanding the nuance involved.

Depending on camera/gun.

ERA in Boston was not elite for what he is asking.

And our closer has almost a near run better in ERA. Kimbrel is not elite and not what he asking for so stop it.

I will drop the mic now.

ERA is a terrible way to judge a pitcher. Especially a relief pitcher. CK pitched in the AL East in a very hitter friendly park. Of course his ERA is gonna be higher.

But speaking of ERA, CK actually has the lowest ERA among ALL pitchers in the history of baseball with at least 500 innings pitched.

And among closers, CK is basically top 5 in every statistic over the last 3 years. Seems pretty elite to me.
