Around The Majors 2019

I believe a loogy can still get one out and be subbed out the next inning ig the one out ends the inning.

But he can't come in for one batter then switch it up. For the out or two.

What if he comes in with the bases loaded and can't throw strikes? Are the only options blowout or fake an injury?

I'm not a guy who will rag on Jerry Blevins--who has been one of the better LOOGYs in the game during his career--but I hope he saved all his money.

Stealing 1st base? Ummm, is this really necessary? Would certainly affect pitchers with strong curves / sliders bouncing in the dirt. Knuckleballers (are there any left?) would be susceptible. Bad defensive catchers would stand out even more.

Could be interesting, actually. Right now, there’s no real penalty for throwing a wild pitch with no men on base. This would change that. Might encourage pitchers to stop trying to overthrow everything.

This wouldn’t, however, suddenly make speedy, light bat players suddenly valuable like the article suggests.

Trying to punish the pitchers every which way is dumb. They are doing their best to counter the "juiced" ball and are being punished. Have to face 3 batters, and even the batter moving to 1st on a WP??? Put all that on top of moving the mound back 2 feet and pitchers are definitely being given the short end of the stick. Moving the rubber back 2 feet to counter hard throwers won't effect them but will effect guys like Soroka who throw sharp breaking balls.

More crap from Manfred and Clark. Next will be a DH for a weak hitting position/glove first guy. Or a dedicated runner for the likes of McCann.

Van Wagenen had another meeting with the entire Mets coaching staff...no chairs were thrown but he demanded the team start winning

Brilliant move by him. Much easier to demand wins from the 88 year old pitching coach than to improve the roster.
