Gun Violence

Dehumanizing those that disagree with you is a classic tactic of oppression.

Both are humans

****ty ones but are human

I can and always have said that. We can scroll through many threads where thethe dehumanizes people though and I reply to him that they are just humans

It's bad logic:

Person 1 believes puppies are cute and shouldn't be harmed. Person 2 believes puppies are cute and shouldn't be harmed but is also a racist murderer. Person 1 agrees with Person 2 on puppies, therefore Person 1 is as terrible as Person 2.

It's the same logic that people used after 9/11 to oppress Muslims who were just as horrified by what happened as everyone else.

The problem is you're logical talking to emotional people

It's a sound example. Guilt by association fallacy. It's a great fallacy to use to demonize an entire group because they share a commonality with an evil person or group. Classic tactic of authoritarian regimes.

I’m glad you hold me to that degree in thinking of power

But I seriously find those 2 as equals and both to be ****ty humans.

But get more upset over me I guess lol

Placing someone you disagree with politically on the same level as a mass killer is dangerous thinking.

Authoritarian rulers need sheeple to buy into their guilt by association fallacies. Please, think more critically than that.

El Paso suspect's mother called police concerned about him owning

an assault weapon, police said he had a legal right to own it and there

was nothing they could do.

WOW.

One thing I don't know is whether the El Paso shooter was receiving any mental health treatment before the attack. If not, it's an absolute indictment of our system. A person is identified by a close family member as someone to worry about committing an act like that and yet our system is unable to get them help.

My frustration is that you have people on the right saying it's a mental health issue and stopping there. That's a problem. If we have an identifiable problem that's causing these incidents then we need people to step up with plans to solve them. How do we increase access to mental healthcare in this country? Even if you have good insurance you usually only get a couple visits to a psychiatrist paid for.

I do think the left is grabbing a hold of these shootings to press gun control they want in spite of the fact that it would be ineffective in stopping these shootings. Pressing ineffective solutions is bad. However, correctly identifying mental health as a huge contributing factor in these mass shootings and doing nothing to fix mental healthcare is equally bad.
