Fifty-eight years ago this week, I was released from Mississippi State Penitentiary,
also known as Parchman Farm, after being arrested at the bus station in

This is interesting. Government employees make racially charged social media posts and are going to be fired for it. These social media posts were, presumably, the officers speaking as private citizens and not officially. Actions taken by the government in regards to government employees are still considered government action and so cannot be based on the content of speech the employee makes as a private citizen.
I expect a law suit will result from this. I'm guessing these firings would have to pass strict scrutiny which is very, very difficult.
It might be that the city decided it's better to pay out on an eventual lawsuit than to be seen sitting on their hands on the issue.

Everytime I read this thread title I picture sturg having a nightmare of Bernie or AOC giving the final death blow to free speech since it's been under attack for quite some time.

I tend to think that belief is sustained and reinforced by the media they’re consuming rather than any empirical reality.
I’m curious, though, as to whether you’re now interested in what young people believe about a range of social and cultural issues, or if you’re merely interested in what conservative students believe about this particular issue.
