Official Offseason Thread

Hopefully by then we'll at least have a Championship to show for it lol. I'm gonna continue going to games regardless. I love the new stadium.

True. Having a flag to stare at will be great, even if we are staring at it while the Braves are winning 80 games and missing the playoffs.

Flags fly forever!!

We'll still have prospects, but it would hurt the team financially to add, possibly by then.

Noted, if you could get KB for Wright, Riley, and a few other pieces, thats a better plan. But based off them wanting Robles, they'd want a lot more than that i'd think from the Braves.

Is Robles more valuable than Pache right now. I can’t remember what his prospect rankings were and I know he struggled a bit in the majors. But I think I remember him being a top 10ner. Heck I don’t know what Pache ranking is right now. Top 20???

Robles was top 5-7, Pache is 11 right now. Robles was pretty good last year, and is elite on defense. I wouldnt move him for 2 years of KB.

A bit off topic but with the value placed on prospects and young talent in the modern game, I have to believe that MLB needs to really look at allowing the trade of draft picks. I could see a team coming out of a rebuild but with a relatively high pick (or picks) and using that pick as part of a package to bring in a building block to help launch their window. It would be another way for the smart teams to be smart and the dumb teams to be dumb.

Supposedly the Nats want 3 of Anderson, Waters, Riley and Wright. As a starting point, that’s a reasonable ask for KB. If that’s the final offer, then giving JD $100M is probably the lesser of the overpays.

Asking for Robles is unreasonable, as is asking for Pache.

If we gave up 3 of Anderson Waters Riley and Wright I assume Wright and Riley are 2 of the 3. Should the 3rd be Anderson or Waters.

Heyman: I t’s believed Nats’ 100M-plus offer to Donaldson has not been withdrawn and is still on table even after Starlin/Asdrubal deals. Doesn’t mean they are confident in pursuit. But they aren’t completely out of game. At least Braves and Twins also in.

We see Minnesota backing off and Washington making several moves the last couple of days. Either JD and the Braves have a handshake deal and they are telling other teams or JD has over played his hand.

Sooo...if we sign JD...that’s great. We would have not given up ONE prospect.

The problem is....we really needed to make a trade from our pitching depth to clear some of the log jam.

What would that be? Ender and pitching for Haniger? The would clear a little payroll.

Pitching and Riley for another starting pitcher?

At this point...that’s the only two plays left I see. An outfielder or starting pitcher.

The Braves used 11 different SPs last year. There is no log jam.

There will be a log jam at AAA, because so many of them are at the same level. Hey, I’m for keeping them all and and letting the one or two that clicks develop. I don’t see how you get all those guys starts with only five spots available and NONE able to start on the big league roster (if Newk is the fifth guy)...unless there are injuries.

OMG!!! We agree on something. I knew it was possible. That is exactly why trading for Bryant or anyone else right now with SP is a bad idea. Right now all that is locked is Soroka, Fried, and Hamels. Folty is unpredictable as they come and the last spot is open. Right now they need to be careful about who they trade, could be the wrong guy.
