The Coronavirus, not the beer

It could have a lot higher death rate if it sweeps through Africa, Middle East and Polynesia. The places with inadequate health care and not a lot of hospitals could easily get overrun and it will cause a lot more deaths

If I could put my thethe and sturg thinking caps on, it sounds like the Elites and Deep State have joined together to spread this disease to help control world population.

Italy 1694 cases with 34 deaths.

50% increase since yesterday.

Japan has almost stopped the spread. People are just so naturally vigilant and worrisome. They rarely invade another's space or touch each other. Everyone is wearing masks and washing their hands. The roads and shops are mostly empty.

South Korea is testing just about everyone. This finds infected people before they can spread the infection. Seems like a good idea.

In Japn when you order food they send you the temperature of the person that made the food and the person who delivered the food.

So the guy quarantined in san Antonio from the cruise was accidentally released after 2 negative tests and his 3rd one came back positive after he was already gone. Lmao cant make this up.

The federal government has the authority to quarantine and isolate patients if officials believe them to be a public health threat. These powers, which date back to cholera outbreaks among ship passengers in the late 19th century, are rarely used. They don’t say anything about who pays when the isolation happens in a nongovernmental medical facility — or when they’re brought there by a private ambulance company.

“There is no uniform practice,” said Lawrence Gostin, a professor of global health law at Georgetown University. “They do have the powers, but they’ve almost never used them in modern times.”

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spokesman declined to comment on whether it would pay the bills of patients kept in mandatory isolation.

Mr. Gostin worries that high charges for mandatory isolation could make patients wary of seeking needed medical treatment.

“The most important rule of public health is to gain the cooperation of the population,” he said. “There are legal, moral and public health reasons not to charge the patients.”

Maybe during times of emergency we should suspend the rules against socialized medicine.

After all the public safety is at stake and we should pay the costs of dealing with the emergency out of public funds. The standard economic literature on externalities covers this.

They have no chance of collecting on those bills. They can send bills all they want, they wont hold up in court.

There is also the problem that a large part of our population is going to be reluctant to go see a doctor over something like this. Not worth the hassle.

Same thing happened in Japan. A positive result is positive but a negative is not necessarily negative.
