interesting thread about clusters and superspreading events...among other things it explains some of the seeming randomness of large outbreaks

looking at the picture makes me also wonder about the combination of refrigeration/meat carcasses/conveyor belts being especially favorable for the virus

Florida Ousts Top COVID-19 Data Scientist

A scientist who created a dashboard for monitoring Florida's rising number of COVID-19 cases said she's been fired for refusing to manipulate the data. Rebekah Jones was the manager of the Geographic Information System team at Florida's Department of Health. She helped created a data portal that for months has provided easily accessible and detailed information on COVID-19 cases broken down by zip code. The Florida COVID-19 Dashboard has been praised by researchers in the state and by White House coronavirus coordinator, Dr. Deborah Birx.

a reminder of the complexity of trying to figure out the true toll of COVID from excess mortality data...some types of deaths (murder, traffic accidents, other infectious diseases) have been suppressed...yet the overall number of excess deaths exceed the official COVID count by a significant percentage

Purely conjecture at this time. Nobody has provided anything convincing since the whole story hasn't been told yet.
 
the same person who says we are scared of a real virus (that has affected posters here directly or indirectly.) and having precautions about not rushing to quickly open

is the same person that says no laws can amend the 2nd amendment cause he is scared and will have to overthrow the gov't with his AR15 soon

Kudos to nsacpi for clearly showing there wasnt bad faith arguments in the past and really wants a solution.

The others....well it was yet another Trump adjacent issue.
 
Florida had the single highest testing day yesterday [39,443]. Positivity rate of 1.27%. The lowest in 45 days.

Yikes.
 
There are some increases in positive case percentages in georgia/Texas.

Can't get good data for Texas hospitalizations but Georgia is seeing a slight uptick. Will be interesting to see where this trend goes.
