The Coronavirus, not the beer

Some countries waited a few extra weeks to get their infection rate really low (as in less than 1% positive test results) before reopening. Others (most sunbelt states) decided to reopen at an earlier point. It may not seem like much, but I think there is a big difference between reopening when 1% of tests are coming back positive and reopening when 5% are. Interestingly, the polling on this has shown support in this country for being cautious about reopening. There has been a large silent majority that has been supportive of the lockdowns. But politically, we have given up on it. And yes, the demonstrations have undermined the case for being patient. No doubt about that. But it is more complicated than just the demonstrations.

The improving situation with respect to hospitalizations in Arizona shows that even at this late date it is still worth putting in place the right policies. Lives will be saved. And it will accelerate the date when people can resume certain activities safely.

What in recent history suggests people know the difference? A third of people believe school shootings happen because "god" isnt allowed in school. 25% of people believe the virus is a conspiracy by Bill Gates to implant tracking chips with the vaccine. 70 million Americans voted for "hope and change" Obama. We are living in idiocracy.

Haha...still trying to compare the two.

My God. You are completely toasted.

Still waiting on the tens of thousands of Swedish deaths?

I mean the masks/lockdown protests have literally contained hundreds to even thousands of people at times. I don't know what your definition of "massive" is, but that's quite a bit of people. But yes, the Floyd protests brought higher numbers at once.

Sweden currently has one of the highest deaths per capita in the world. And among similarly populated countries, only Belgium has been worse. I'm not sure why you keep bringing them up as some sort of great example.

as we are seeing in spain...europe isn't done with the virus. Same with Australia. Same with Japan.

Herd immunity with protection of at risk is thr only sensible path. Always has been. That was the sweden way even though they made similar nursing home errors early on.

Benghazi didn't impact every American life... the most of which negatively

probably made more of a difference in 2016 election than Russia did. Trump won by a razor thin margin. So without that Hillary would probably be President, the protests would have ended already, Fox News would be freaking out over 20k deaths, and Trump would be all over twatter declaring no Americans would have died if he won and Hillary should resign.

You very well might be right.

While I agree with many of Trumps policies... the intensity of his opposition has been so overwhelming it has taken us a large sept backwards towards making progress.

The opposition to Trump is his own doing. Russiagate could have been cleared up in a month if he cooperated instead of obstructing. The Democrats are the opposition party so not sure what you expect them to do. Obama faced historic levels of obstruction by Republicans. If any other President acted like he did they would get the same type of coverage. I think the media is actually far too easy on him.

Why is everyone continuing to confuse correlation with causation?

The same Trump that was encouraging business as usual up until mid march? Damn Trump is right.

To find out how bull**** your thinking is here I whole-heartedly invite you to google "federalist The Real Coronavirus Chronology Shows Trump Was On Top of It" .. oh wait, Google has blacklisted that site. Better not. It's unsafe WRONGTHINK! Stick to what the major networks tell you and your loved ones. Definitely do NOT go to duck.com and search the same phrase and click on that FIRST response.
