GDT: 9/25 Red Sox @ Braves: Braves take the # 2

MVP!!!

Also there’s this..

Ronald Acuna Jr. is batting .275/.378/.546 with 149 runs, 29 doubles, one triples, 47 home runs, 107 RBI, and 43 stolen bases over his last 162 games played.

Is that any good?
Haha

Tucker will start tomorrow’s game!!

As bad as it’s been with the rotation ...it’s been a blessing in disguise. Had we had the beginning rotation stick, guys line Wright, Anderson and Ynoa May have not gotten enough time to develop. As it is...they were pushed and now are looking like real options moving forward.

Huascar? I hardly Ynoa!

(Huascar Ynoa sent down to make room for Tucker Davidson.)

“Basically”

I’m sorry I am forgetting the glory years of the 70’s, but if you want to include it then go ahead.

You’re forgetting Hank Aaron and Phil Niekro. Aaron had plenty of great years in Atlanta. And Phil Niekro had good years in the 80’s (your cutoff), plus helped the Braves win two division titles in Atlanta. You can’t just conveniently omit them.

Emergence of Wright as of late makes next years rotation look pretty solid. If Soroka is ready, a top 4 of Wright/Fried/Anderson/Soroka is not bad at all. And as great as he's been the last 5 years, i think it's time to part ways with Nick.

Starting rotation may be better than pen next season.

Ehh, kinda depends what we retain in free agency.

If rosters are back to 25 and there's a DH, could have an 8-man pen of say: Minter/Tomlin/O'Day/Martin/Smith/Dayton, and 1 of Greene/MM whichever is cheaper.
I could see us trade Ender for a bullpen arm for a similar contract. Doubt we let both go after trading key pieces for them.

I'm guessing we non-tender Luke to save a little money. Bullpen probably wont be quite as good as this year but rotation on paper should be a hell of alot better where we wont need it too. Really need to find a way to pay Ozuna though, do that and anything else is a bonus. Keep Ozuna, one of MM/Greene, and add a vet SP for the last rotation spot, and call it an offseason. And probably need to sign Freeman to a new deal, hopefully one that's good/fair to both sides. Only arb guys we have per spotrac are Duvall, Luke, Dayton, Swanson, and Minter. None should be crazy expensive, Luke i think gets non-tendered because money is tight.

Thought Martin was a FA. Keeping him certainly changes my opinion on the pen

He got a 2 year deal, smart move from AA. He had a great offseason minus the Hamels move. Although Hamels not pitching helped Anderson and Wright so who knows.

Gotta find the money to sign a big bat, veteran starter, and 1 more pen arm. Do this, and braves have to be the front runner again in the East

Should be an interesting off-season. Hard to know what the overall financial landscape of major league baseball will look like which makes prediction nigh on impossible. Agree that a middle-of-the-order bat will be key. With Markakis likely to retire and Inciarte appearing to hit a performance wall (add to that I have to be convinced that Duvall isn't somewhat of a mirage), it will be interesting to see how they fill the OF. Not having the minor league season prevented everyone from getting a good look at Pache and Waters, so I have to believe they will look for a couple of bargain OFs at least to start the 2021 season. Free agent pickings are awfully slim in the OF department.

What is a fair Ozuna contract this off season. Not what the poor Braves will offer but what is a fair value for his services. He isn’t old per se. but being a DH devalues him somewhat. 3 plus an option maybe. Can he get 4-5?

If we non-tender Luke, we should be around 80-82 mil. Really depends what our payroll is going to be. Just depends what some players will be looking for in free agency. But agree that's probably the main 3 things on AA's to do list.
