GDT: NLCS Braves vs Dodgers 10/12

That was the best game of the postseason, in my opinion. Just excellent. My first one I got to see live, too!

Hopefully Contreras replaces Duvall and we see:

Acuna RF
MVP 1B
Ozuna LF
TDA DH
Ozzie 2B
Swanson SS
Riley 3B
Flowers C
Pache CF

Just really don't want to see Ozuna in the outfield. The way I look at Duvall going down, he wasn't giving us much with the bat anyway this post season. So use Pache and keep the defense intact, anything you get from the bat is gravy. Can always pinch hit Neck for him late in the game.

I've been anti Ozuna in the field after the first couple weeks of the season. But I'm with you.

I think vs a lefty you have to look at this option.

I'd look at TDA catching and Contreras DH. I wouldn't put Contreras in to catch with Anderson since Anderson is rolling now with TDA. But for game 4 or maybe game 5 with Urias I'd start Contreras at C to give TDA's legs a break.

I'm with you. But we can't put so much pressure on our pitchers to hold everyone under 2 runs.

If you have Ronnie and Pache those two guys can cover 80 percent of the OF. Let Ozuna hug the line and Pache will pick him up.

For serious. Sandoval is clearly a bat only bench option and an emergency replacement in the field only. Whatever slight offense he might provide (which is likely minimal) is completely off-set by the liability he would be on defense.

In terms of DRS, it's not really a huge issue. If you look at UZR, he's maybe approaching a -1 win over a season player.

Obviously, he doesn't look like much of a defender, but he's perhaps not quite the sieve you're painting him to be.

I don't really see the Braves starting him, but I could be surprised.

Duvall's value vs RHP is that he might run into one much like Riley, except perhaps a little more frequently.

Duvall's value vs LHP is that he mashes.

NEWS: Tony Gonsolin will start NLCS Game 2 tonight, as @Dodgers say Clayton Kershaw “has been scratched with back spasms.” @MLBNetwork @MLB

If Camargo isn't used in this spot, there is no reason to have him employed by the ballclub next year.

Assuming Camargo is done, the choice pretty much comes down to:

1. Flowers' bat plus Ozuna's defense in LF
2. Culberson's glove and bat in LF

A side benefit to #1 is the rest TDA gets as DH. A side benefit to #2 is it doesn't require a 3rd C to be added to the roster.

I'm not sure Flowers is enough of an offensive upgrade over Culberson to warrant watching Ozuna run around that gigantic LF and throwing like he's using the wrong arm in the NLCS.

He's super solid.

He is. But he also hasn't pitched since 9/26, hasn't even pitched in the post season yet. So should be interesting. Wonder how long Kershaw will be out. Remember back spasms is what caused Fried to go on the DL this year.
