The Biden Presidency

I'm also not sure there's a majority appetite for the Romney/Ryan brand of conservatism any longer. Republicans have to run on a populist platform to bring in more working class minorities into the party.

I think this election showed us that most Americans still don't like the politics of DJT, as the popular vote clearly shows. They also don't much care for far left Dems, which is why Biden won the primary pretty easily. Biden was definitely more center leaning than pretty much all of his campaign opponents, save may be Gabbard.

Trump has been able to rile up a certain subsect of voters that otherwise may not have voted, but let's be real, at least 80% of his supporters will likely vote Republican no matter what. Independents seem to have flocked to Biden this election. Numbers are at record highs likely due mail in ballots more than anything else. Don't discount the affect that an Irish Catholic like Ryan would have in Northeastern states, either.

The politics of Trump did really well in congressional races.

Trump the cult of personality did not.

Working class voters aren't lapping up trickle down economics and suburbanites shifted too much to the left to vote Republican. Working class voters will consistently vote for whoever has their best interests in mind.

Josh Hawley / Tucker Carlson / John James / Trump Jr is who the real players are for 2024

The non-white population is starting to gravitate towards the populist message more and more and I expect to see bigger gains.

The left is clearly an anti religion and anti-traditional views which infuriates Hispanics and Black males who are naturally more conservative.

I think you have to unpack Trump a bit. One of the biggest problems with him was his tendency to make unforced errors that enraged the left. A more savvy politician using a populist message would likely have done better in the popular vote.

One of the problems Republicans have had is their catering to business interests and ignoring the broader base. One of the reasons Trump was able to win the nomination while being an outsider was because he gave the base attention and told them he'd take care of them. Future Republican candidates would do well to emulate that.

If Ryan could adopt a more populist posture (but more moderate than Trump) he'd be a force to be reckoned with.

Traditional candidates like Ryan are absolute sell outs to big business. That aint going to fly moving forward in the GOP. The Trump base (populist base) will dictate where the GOP goes from here and its a much bigger tent than traditional republicans ever had.

My early front runner to take on Trump mantle is DeSantis.

He's had an amazing year in Florida

He is a player but I think Hawley is the guy.

Its a stupid comment but he is a better looking guy and I think that has an impact on our shallow population.

She tried in her candidacy to embrace Sanders platform and nothing about it seemed genuine at all, so she resorted to the identify politics (calling Biden a racist).

She was chosen because she was a POC woman that the Dems foolishly thought would swing votes. She will get creamed in the 2024 primaries (even if she takes over for Biden mid-term)

In addition to that, and when Super, you look beyond your circle of friends views and to the overall populace, she's clearly left. NARAL gave her a 100% rating. She was early on the LGBTQ+ train (though the T have their fears -- which is nuts). She would understand freedom of religion to be merely freedom to worship (she's worked toward the neutralization of the RFRA with her Do No Harm Act).

Credibly accused creepy joe was set to go with Amy Klobuchar until the George Floyd protests erupted. Amy would have been a great choice but she took herself out of the running in deference to the moment.

If one looks at the polling- the above issue are rather mainstream

Trump told the people what they wanted to hear, but had no real plan (or intention to be honest) of doing that.

Wait, someone running for office lied? Perish the thought!

Populist messages and populist actions different things. Republicans at the very least have to keep a populist message alive.

NO real plan of doing it? Where have you guys been?

Before the CCP virus came in everything was running like a fine tuned engine. You just didn't like his approach.

I guess you didn't like cooperation agreements in the middle east (which are actually better than peace deals) or the lack of starting new wars or the killings of major terror organizers throughout the world.

Maybe you want to domestic issues where the working class had the highest wage growth under this administration than they had in decades. How about those of us that have retirement through our jobs and saw unprecedented growth (not artificial recovery from a previous crash)? What about employment numbers for all groups hitting record lows?

Its absolutely crazy to say that Trump did not follow through on his campaign promises.
