what about very poorly chosen one...he probably will want to hold some rallies
Depends on what assurances he gets.
"Georgia isn't a red state. It's a voter-suppressed state."
interesting idea, in the light that Arizona too has flipped
that may be true where you live
Yeah. Dems definitely could win both of these seats, especially if R enthusiasm is low.
They could win, but Georgia is pretty danged good at suppressing black voters.
I expect both to go to the Republicans. I hope I'm wrong, but I think they get both seats.
Good Lord. Anyone who thinks Georgia is voter suppressed either has no idea what they're talking about or else wants to set up a political machine. Voting in Georgia is easier than buying cold medicine.
Care to show your evidence on that?
For some. Georgia isn't as bad as some other states which is why it's a purple southern state.
Georgia has lots of laws saying who cannot vote
First off Voter ID laws. Historically disenfranchise the very poor, people who don't have the means to go to a county office or DMV to get an ID.
A felon on Parole or Probation cannot vote. Personally I'm OK (though I think they should be allowed to vote from Jail) with felons not voting from jail, but once they're out their votes should count. Probation and Parole shouldn't matter.
ANd of course their law allowing them to purge voter rolls.
Now is Georgia as bad as other states like say Texas.
And keep in mind I lived in NJ and live in NH. NH has pretty similar voting laws to GA. Though their voter ID isn't as strict, and they have same day voter registration. They counter that with no early voting and a restricted absentee ballot.
Though of course given the shenanigans pulled by the GOP with absentee ballots this year, I probably would never vote via absentee ballot. NJ was much easier. IIRC i could register to vote with the DMV or Online, I don't remember but it was easy. When I showed up to the polls I stated my full name, birth date and address as I am registered. I voted and left.It took probably about 15 minutes. You can vote early in NJ. You have free absentee ballot access, etc.
Georgia allowed you to order an absentee ballot online in a process that took less than a minute. The SoS office ran ads for a couple of months leading up to the election to tell people how to do it and not to believe any information that didn't come from the SoS office. There were ballot drop boxes for those who didn't want to risk the mail or buy a stamp. I'm not sure how they could have made it easier while maintaining even a facade of integrity. There are already stories of third party canvassing in Atlanta as it is.
