No, it wouldn't. Punishing them for not doing those things is what would end up being a problem. My healthcare gives me discounts for healthy choices that I make, including some that help keep me from being fat. No one says a word.

Positive reinforcement works with high achievers. Negative reinforcement works better with the rest of the population.

My recent work has focused mainly on children, and this is certainly not true for them. From what I have observed, negative reinforcement works as a learned response. Positive reinforcement works without that requirement. It is also much healthier in the long run, and people who start something based around positive reinforcement have been shown to stick with it once the reward is removed at a MUCH higher percentage than with negative reinforcement.

I’d find it difficult to argue with this. Especially the healthier aspect.

There is also an extremely compelling and convincing argument to be made that the reason we see positive reinforcement as something that works with high achievers and the opposite with negative reinforcement is because having that positive reinforcement is why they are high achievers in the first place. It starts young.

Eh....

The folks i've worked with on their weight are usually just not educated on food. The info is out there though...everywhere. People just inherently want the easy route.
 
Among those that were at the party with Gavin Newsom were California medical association officials. They are laughing at all of us and specially those that are spreading the fear.
