The House makes history...

The House has voted to decriminalize marijuana and expunge nonviolent marijuana-related convictions, the first time a chamber of Congress has ever endorsed the legalization of cannabis. The bill is all but doomed in the Republican-led Senate.

Pelosi should hold it until Dems get a majority. Will be a major GOTV in Georgia senate race. If they don’t, I think some GOP senators would still vote for it even if the Dems dont have the majority next month.

don’t care if Trump signs it or Biden signs it needs to get done already.

I'm not a big Matt Gaetz fan, but he's right on this issue. Poll after poll shows 60+ percent of Americans believe marijuana should be legalized and it is pathetic that you can still get in more trouble for using weed than cocaine. As more and more research comes out, it is clear that the government has been lying to us for decades about marijuana.

How do you get in more trouble for marijuana than cocaine?

For something that isn't addictive I sure have seen a lot of people ruin their lives over it. I'd much rather see the Justice Dept return to enforcing the law.

I've seen people ruin their lives far more over alcohol than weed.

Just anecdotal sure. But you can't overdose on weed. You can certainly do that on cocaine and alcohol and possibly die.

seems to me with the right tweak Mitch might be willing to co-sponsor this

Mitch blocked Obama from passing criminal justice reform at the end of his presidency, so he could give that easy layup to Trump.

This would be an even easier lay-up for Don because it's almost a slam dunk at this point in public opinion.

Obvious troll is obvious. Prohibition has ruined far more lives than the actual marijuana. Not just the users. Cops who get hurt in the enforcement of it. When you put the cops in the position of violently enforcing unpopular laws you get the wedge between them and the public that results in the types of rioting you saw this year. Where cops get hurt as well. Marijuana also can be very helpful for PTSD so it would actually help cops who get PTSD from their job. Veterans who get PTSD often end up treating it with marijuana and then get trapped in the meat grinder of a justice system that ends with suicide and homelessness. I would think as a supposed conservative who say they are against big government and job killing regulation you would support this.

You need to work on your overhead smash dude. I tried to tee that one up for you.

Not sure about federal laws; but in Mississippi less than 1 oz of weed is a misdemeanor, and any amount of cocaine is a felony.

Simple possession of Marijuana is a slap on the wrist everywhere if you arent a prick to the cops.

Federally marijuana is a schedule 1 controlled substance and cocaine is a schedule 2... therefore federally marijuana is classified as more dangerous than marijuana. Which is a travesty. Schedule 1 are drugs considered the highest risk for dependency and the most dangerous. Federally you can get in more trouble for weed than cocaine.

I know a guy last year who spent 1 month in jail in SD because he had CBD gummies... of course their governor is an idiot too. She’s trying to undo the legalization process that the people of SD overwhelmingly voted for just like Trump is trying to undo the election.

Schedule 1 drugs are not allowed to be researched federally as they are deemed to have no benefit to humanity, including medically. Even cocaine is still considered to have benefit medically. It’s a joke. Medical marijuana has changed my life controlling my anxiety. Got me off the actual **** that ruins lives (xanax Valium, etc...)

You've mistaken me. I'm socially conservative but basically a Nordic socialist.

There's no reason for weed to be illegal and alcohol or cigs to be legal.
