Georgia Senate Runoff

Dem ads are all about whether the Republican senators traded stocks inappropriately. I've heard ads about that 5 or 6 times as much as any other topic for Democrats.

Going the other way its' all about tying Osoff and Warnock to Pelosi and Sanders. The specter of socialism.

And one is the same as the other, gotcha

Every thread on this board just turned into “whataboutism”

That $1200 ad is disgusting and manipulative.

And the above is not, out of the mouth of an actual politician from a whole different state? I think they are both slimy but at least the Biden one is from a PAC and not directly from the mouth of a politician that has nothing to do with GA. I don’t take part in what about ism... I call out sleezy activity from both sides unlike sturg and a few others (maybe you?)

Seeing as I refuse to read anything with the words “Stop the Steal”, I don’t feel like I need to give any validity to that circus.

“And the above is not” = whataboutism

I suppose you should be appalled by this as well?

I just don't understand how people keep falling for this. The election was a month and a half ago, why would you believe someone who is just now coming forward with fraud claims. Too much of this country has gone crazy.

Ahh I missed that it was a recount worker, but that's even worse. You think "they" managed to remember exactly how many votes they needed to give Biden to make the recount numbers match the election night numbers?

I got two GEMS as mailers today. Not sure how to post them but they are hilarious

Man it's every day. They're knocking on my door once a week and leaving a flyer on the knob. My kids know the commercials by heart because they play on YouTube channels for kids. It's crazy. We need to ban PACs just so they can't waste this kind of money.

One was biden as the grinch with his foot in a boot, and the other was david perdue as a rotten peach with stick arms and legs.

Similar story is on AJC behind the paywall if the source is concerning to anyone.

Honest question, should his wife automatically be believed or should he be given the benefit of the doubt?

I'm interested to see if people on all sides will be consistent with what they said in the Kavanaugh hearing.

Personally, I don't think this should be held against him without some corroborating evidence. I think a presumption of innocence is important on more places than just the courtroom.

I will say this about Warnock. I'm very much against clergy running for political office, especially higher offices like the house and senate. When a leader wears a political mantle as well as one of religious authority, they present a special kind of threat. I'm not saying electing Warnock will make him a dictator, I'm just against even starting that blending.

I think when Warnock decided to run for office he should have left the clergy.

My position with respect to Kavanaugh was to pause the hearings to give the FBI a chance to interview the key people: Ford, Ramirez, Kavanaugh himself and Mark Judge.

What is the equivalent here? There are 2 weeks left. The media should certainly talk to the wife as much as she is willing to talk, and any acquaintances of the couple who might have relevant information.

What is involved in leaving the clergy. I'm familiar with the case of the prime minister of a small country who took a leave of absence from his pastoral duties to focus on his political activities. Is leave of absence sufficient. For someone with the calling, is it even possible to "leave the clergy."

A little history on clergy who have served in Congress:

I would add as an observation that in some religions the distinction between clergy and lay people is blurry. Mitt Romney for example has been bishop of the ward for Belmont, Massachusetts, and president of the Boston stake.

Some Christian denominations believe in the universal priesthood. Are all their members to refrain from seeking political office.

Barr cleared Kavanaugh as he did DJT.
Wonder if Warnock would get the same expediated investigation ?
