Sounds like we are in the thick of it to sign Maikel Franco.

Worth wondering whether they've seen enough of Lamb already to decide he's toast. Hate to read much into early spring small samples, but he's been pretty bad.

Ervin's well on his way to winning a roster spot (particularly if Ender isn't ready to start the season), and Kipnis, Adrianza, Goins, and even Kazmar offer more versatility than Lamb. Playing Riley in LF or at 1B, Franco at 3B, and sliding Ozuna or Freeman to DH in interleague games might not be the worst idea. Since Lamb's contract isn't guaranteed, he and Panda could play 1b and 3B in Gwinnett until or if one of them got hot or an injury pops up.

I think building the bench will be determined by which of these t*rds floats to the top. I agree that Anthopoulos will be watching the cut-downs from other teams very closely. Read O'Brien's write-up at The Athletic today and he seems to think Adrianza is going North.

Trying to decide if it's fair to wonder if Ynoa replaces Dayton and Newk gets sent to Gwinnett at whatever point they deem Soroka "ready". Would mean going with a 7-Man Pen (assuming they use a 5-man bench), but you'd have TWO multi-inning guys in Ynoa and Tomlin. That would allow them to go with a 6-Man Rotation and help limit SP workloads. You'd be able to keep Wright/Wilson/Newk/Touki on the ATL-Gwinnett shuttle to work as the 6th SP.
