Braves trade for Joc Pederson

The leadoff hitter is the key here. If we could roll out something like this the lineup would be in great shape.

Fraizer LF
Albies 2B
Freeman 1B
Riley 3B
TDA C
Pederson/Duvall RF
Swanson SS
Heredia CF

Bench

Pederson/Duvall OF/1B
Arcia UTIL
Almonte OF
Lucroy C
Adrianza UTIL

Too early to give up on Ball and the team should be selling. I dislike everything about it. Except Peterson, I've always liked guys who excel hitting RHP.

Getting Joc should have been done 5-6 months ago when all he cost was money. Granted, Ball wasn't a great prospect, but he was more than trade fodder. Seems like a completely unnecessary move now.

I am fine with this trade, but I hope Snit doesn't listen to the people wanting Swanson leading off. No, thank you.

We traded Bryce Ball for half a year of what we hoped Bryce Ball could be a few years from now.

Pederson was a guy I thought made sense when all the foot-dragging was being done waiting on the DH decision and the subsequent signing of Ozuna. It's obvious the waiting on Ozuna knocked all the alternatives to him off the table. That, and the assumption that Pache would be a lot better, looked to be the framework that drove all decisions. It's just been a star-crossed year. None of the guys expected to comprise the everyday OF are currently with the team.

Our season is over and has been over since #13 went down.

If Anthopoulos doesn't trade Pederson again before the deadline, he's made a mistake.

Hopefully those higher up the chain just need to see a few more series losses before we go straight sell mode.

I just don’t see how AA is being realistic here. This team couldn’t even get above .500 with Acuna and Anderson. Be realistic instead of trying to please the casuals. At the very least, he can still sell expiring parts in 2 weeks.

I think trading ball while he has any value at all is pretty realistic.

It was over before that even with him or had you not seen him hit after the 6th this year?

i'm going to say this and hope I reverse jinx the team into being awesome.

I don't like the deal. I think we are not good and have no path to win playoff games. Snake bit. Cursed this is not our year.

Losing Ball is not a huge deal. It's just that if you move him in this deal, you can't use him in another deal that actually makes you better in a year you can win.

Joc isn't playing that well. He's not under team control. He's not good on defense. I agree that if you liked him, you should have had him in free agency and just put Acuna in CF.
