Trades/acquisitions

So what is the deal with Ozuna? Are just waiting for him to come off the IL so he can be suspended? Is he purposefully stonewalling coming off the IL so he can keep getting paid?

Who is it up to to make that decision? The whole situation seems very unclear. I'm sure we will hear something soon though.

Only the commissioner can suspend Ozuna. IMO Braves are holding out for the longest suspension or barring from MLB. Bauer situation complicates things to a certain degree.

To whom?

Who on earth is dumb enough to want 2 years of Smith at $13 million per that wouldn't just go ahead and trade for Kimbrel. If you exercise Kimbrel's 2022 option he costs you $32 million for 2 years while Smith will cost you $27 million. (Full-season salaries - don't have time to figure the pro-rated numbers for this season, but the point is would you rather have Kimbrel in 2022 for $16 million or Smith in 2022 for $14 million and a chance to keep him in 2023 for another $12 million???)

The only teams trading for Closers with high salaries are legitimate contenders. Kimbrel's well worth the extra $5 million. Smith is the perfect example of why you don't give expensive, long-term contracts to anyone other than the absolute elite of the elite - Kimbrel/Hader/Chapman/Hendriks - and even those deals have periods where they look plenty questionable.

Nothing wrong with Will Smith's performance this year.

I don't know why a team would have a whole lot of issue taking on his remaining year. It's not a bad number.

Hopefully MLB lets it slide and the Braves plug him back in the lineup, IMO.

Sort of dumb to hamstring yourself when the criminal justice system and mlb don't.

Ozuna says he has proof of innocence, which I can't imagine isn't true

Lol

I don't see an actual PR hit from playing him except Keith Law will make mean comments about you in his chats and tweets.

Anyone that says they'll drop tickets or not watch is lying. Wouldn't necessarily expect his Jersey to do much trade though.

So let him be not guilty and/ or serve his suspension and let's go.

He would need to be accepted by his teammates not the public. If he is not welcomed back by everyone in the club house, then he should not come back. It is just that simple.

If he's innocent, then he's innocent. If he is guilty he should be punished accordingly...just like everyone else who is charged with a crime.

It is very simple, and shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

That's fair. Seems a player should be able to play until that's determined

Christ here we go…General Lib riding in on his noble keyboard steed to save us all…

There is a healthy number of non-libs who want everyone to know just how much they are against the current bad act of the moment and how they want to destroy everyone remotely associated with it.

Usually for crimes against young women, children or dogs.

I don't think there's any chance of ozuna coming back to the braves this season. If it were a possibility, I think chip would be given orders to start cleaning up ozuna's name some
