Trades/acquisitions

With any trades for players controlled beyond this year, you really have to factor in the potential work stop next year when considering how much to give up. As far as Donaldson, we also don't know if the DH will be back in the NL next year, which is another huge factor to consider. Also taking on his salary makes you have to consider if there is enough for Freeman's extension and also to improve the team next year.

Just read something from The Athletic that says Braves will be buyers and an interesting idea is landing Buxton, Berrios, and Rogers from Minnesota.

According to UNCBlue012's source the Braves plan on having Ozuna's money for next year. How that will work exactly I'm not sure. On that front it's really all fan speculation on how much the Braves are going to have to pay him. They do/will know and will make moves accordingly. We have to hope for the best.

Heard if the Twins can’t get an extension done with Buxton that they are looking to trade him. Hard pass on on a guy who is made of glass.

They'd want an insane package for those guys!

Pache, Mueller, Wright+ and honestly I would do it.

But the issue is what if we have to take on his salary in the years following that. We'd still owe him for at least 2 more years after next. It's sort of like a situation with the Mets and Cano. Until that situation is resolved it's tough to know what longer term commitments the team can get into.

That's for the AA and the front office to figure out. Like I said. They will have a firm grasp on what is happening and how to work around it if needed.

I want no part of being a buyer, unless it's for spare parts. A playoff appearance with a 1st round exit is hardly worth selling the future for.

Honestly, I would go after Kyle Seagar and stick Riley in LF. Let Heredia man CF.

Agree. It seems likely he'll be suspended by MLB for at least a year and then I don't think we have to pay him. Maybe part of this year is being paid by insurance. But we still have at least the fourth year to pay unless he is literally in jail. I don't think it's ever happened in baseball, but maybe we can the first to negotiate a buy out and let him play in another country for some years.

Next year we should have the payroll go up significantly if everyone expects full crowds. The question will be how many games will there be next year?

It would take an insane package. I think a few more + + +'s would be necessary. Would have to get an extension done with Buxton and Berrios and Rogers are only under control for one more season. Berrios is kicking around a $25 MM AAV on a multiple year deal as what he wants. All good players, especially Buxton when healthy.

Love Buxton but Cal Ripken he is not. He ain't even Bob Horner...I love him when healthy to your point 50. Don't see a package expanded that will be doable and I thought AA was looking for controllable pieces.

Buxton and Donaldson are the same guy at this point. Giving up any pieces that have more than marginal value for either is pretty crazy - how do you schedule your team's other injuries to only happen during the 70 days each year you have those guys in the lineup???
