DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

I had pretty high hopes for Gamel. If healthy, he would have been the kind of over-qualified bench bat championship-caliber teams have. He's probably just too far gone at this point to salvage as a big league player.

Agreed, I'm much less optimistic about the quality of the bench now.

It's possible, too, that Wren could bring in another bat before the end of ST if the in-house options fail to appeal. There's usually a fair amount of release bait floating around by the end of March.

It's entirely possible. The Braves also signed Mark Hamilton who is similar to Gamel to a non roster deal, perhaps if he has a good spring he might be considered.

I guess I am higher on Joey T. than some of you. I don't want to see him not get a shot for a reclamation project. I think he will surprise and impress.

Agreed. I'm a huge Joey T fan.

Joey T is how I learned about the Bristol stool chart:

Hopefully, he won't have has many Type 7 ABs this yearlol.

Wren is pretty good when he goes this route. Too bad about Gamel. Couldn't really play 3B (and neither can Terdoslavich), so I wondered where he would have fit in other than pinch-hitting. He could have been really good at that.

I think a lot of us are just bummed because Gamel could play third. I guess Joey T. could play some third in a pinch, but that's about it.

The one thing that concerns me going forward is that Wren keeps stating that Laird is some amazing back up catcher in all the interviews he does. Laird doing anything but occasionally backing up Gattis would kind of suck.

Who should backup Gattis then?

Doumit who sucks defensively, or CB who isnt ready yet.

I dont see the big deal with that.

Doumit Sav! It wasn't Doumit who was released but Gamel.

I was wondering when someone would notice and made this pun. They're both so irrelevant I thought I could get away with it. And I would have, if it wasn't for you meddling son of *****
