Trades/acquisitions

Marte I believe had expressed interest in finishing his career with the Marlins. Wonder if he re-signs with them this winter. Luzardo has promise for sure. Think he’s in AAA now, but has some positive things he did when he first came up. My guess is he’s with the Marlins big league club pretty soon.

Imagine the Braves trading Teheran for Tori Hunter after JTs disastrous 2012 season. That's essentially what's happening here.

Would love the Braves to make a move for him in the offseason
My thoughts exactly. Been one of my favorite players for some time now. I just absolutely love how he plays and what Ir brings to the table. Max would he what, a 4 year deal that you would give him?

Welllllll....

If AA can add Marte/Bryant for a poo-poo platter, then buying makes more sense. A bat like that plus a competent BP arm gives this team a chance to win this crappy division.

Hell, if these guys are really that cheap, get BOTH Marte and Bryant. Paying pennies on the dollar is always a good idea when you can pull it off.

With the bats apparently less in-demand, I really wonder if all the radio-silence is because AA's working on a bigger deal. Given the extra control, offering up a big haul for Gibson/Gallo makes sense.

The question is, is a Waters, Muller or Touki, Wright, Grissom package enough to land them?

Marlins are paying the remaining of Marte's contract. Even though it's not much I guess it incentivized the A's to give up a better player. May be worth more to them since they are always cash strapped it seems. A real good move for Miami.

Makes me wonder what the Braves could get for Freeman if they pay his remaining salary for the year.

Thewupk - I thought you were talking about Marte in my post above.
I’d love Turner as well haha.

A guy I'm wondering about is Max Kepler. He hasn't had a good year, but he is under control through 2023. Can play CF although not that well but statistics say he'd be better than Heredia. Problem is we would become a little to LHH-heavy seeing we just picked up Pederson.

LH heavy isn't a bad thing though, as it gives us the advantage roughly 75% of the time.

Marlins now five-deep in quality young starters. If only they would spend money on their lineup.

They can now start spinning off some of their arms. With Alcantara (through 2024), Rogers (2026), Lopez (2024), and Luzardo (2026) in place and Meyer getting close, they can do what AA should have done and look into what type of return they can get for Thompson, Sixto, Edward Cabrera, and Braxton Garrett.

This Marlins deal is exactly why it's hard to take anyone seriously who doesn't want to sell Morton. Two months of Starling Marte gets Luzardo. Imagine what Morton could return.
