Trades/acquisitions

SS would be the most obvious place to upgrade in the offseason with so many SS available. Who is the best fit? Seager would be my pick giving us another LH power bat. And he’s from the area.

Neither. Ride Swanson out and go big with Turner the following year.

All that whining for weeks, and AA ends up remaking the entire OF and bench, bolsters the C position, and adds an impact BP arm...all for the cost of spare parts and Wilson, who is nothing to cry about losing.

Agree.
Wilson is a loss but a loss you can replace. Especially since the new staff drafts 5 college starters a year who are probably 4/5 starters.

I don’t think RR is a great rp but he’s a good one. And he had multiple years of control.

Perfect opportunity to try and defend the division without spending capital we may need in the future.

Reasonable we could win the division now. Still think we are cursed this year and will suck, but it’s a real possibility

I don't think the offense got that much better. Like Enscheff wrote, the new guys are all-or-nothing types with pretty lousy on-base skills. Duvall improves the OF defense, but Soler and Rosario are potted plants (Rosario has a decent arm, which is a plus).

True, but (the ever-present hopeful fan's mantra) you're getting Soler just as he's heating up, and we've seen him absolutely go off for stretches before. Rosario/Duvall gives you the platoon many of us talked about way back when it was cold, meaning you can cover up part of each of their shortcomings, and d'Arnaud instead of Smith will be a massive upgrade. You can platoon Rosario with whichever of Duvall or Soler is colder, and if Waters or Pache turn a corner in the next few weeks you can platoon Pederson with the other - that's not bad IMO.

I'm not a fan of Joc or Duvall in CF, but neither of them is necessarily THAT MUCH worse there than having Ozuna in LF. The bench gets markedly better, and these adds mean you don't need to push Waters or Pache now when Almonte and or Heredia turn back into the pumpkins they are. We've been extremely lucky with them to this point - at least you're now in a position that the other 4 OFs on the MLB roster (when Rosario returns) at least deserve to be on a roster and they're not just someone you're counting on riding an unexpected "hot hand" with. Almonte and Heredia can go back to being the bit players that can help every once in a while that we all know they are.
